I got it from this page. It says 2,8 millions in 81 and today is 3,8.

Anyway.
Bah don't worry too much about that. As of now Metro Montreal is at 3,9 million. Statcan projections Montreal to hit the 4 million mark by 2012.

Is it a FACT that this structure will rise immediately after demolition? As exciting as it is, this should be labeled as "site prep".

^If you look at the right of the first pic, you'll see a sign on the fence that says ''MAG'' witch stands for Magil Laurentienne. Magil Laurentienne Realty Corporation is a Canadian property management company with a portfolio of office, retail, industrial and mixed-use properties in Montreal, the Greater Toronto Area and Quebec City. They also have their own construction team. If they have a sign there, you can be sure that there's gonna be more than just demolition.

I agree, I think we're all getting carried away here. Its because we're in the beginning of a downtown highrise "boom" unprecedented in the past 20 years. 35 floors in downtown Montreal? You better fuckin' believe it!

It looks like an office building to me but the name suggests residential ? Either way it's a great project.

I am employed in the construction industry. So many times I have seen structures demo'ed and then the lot sits empty; even if the same GC and /or CM is involved. Perhaps capital was provided for demolition only? Brokers will encourage some site activity as a form of marketing to prospective tenants that work has began. If I were a broker, I would.

Like I have said before I would be very happy to see this highrise constructed since Montreal is one my most favorite cities on Earth. Though we need to be fair. ...yeah go ahead and call me "grandpa shak" .

Demolition of an existing structure is not construction. This one should still be in proposals.

You can doubt as much as you want but this wont stop it from happening.

The 100 M$ investment official press release was made on may 3rd by Kevric. You can read it if you dont believe us: http://argent.canoe.ca/lca/affaires/...03-100029.html

The point isn't whether or not it will go to construction, it is whether or not it currently is, which it isn't.

Demoing an existing structure is not building the current structure.

I'm sure not many people here doubt whether it will get built, but the building isn't currently U/C and likely wont be for some months.

Like I said previously this should be moved back out of the U/C section.

I agree that SITE PREP should be added to the title, unless demolition isnt considered site prep, then it should go back to the Approved section. Either way, work is progressing well, wich is good news.

site demolition and site preparation are not considered "construction" by SSP's guidelines for categorizing project status, thus this thread will be moved back to the proposals subforum, with the thread title edited to signify that site demo has commenced. when formal construction of the project begins, it will be moved to the construction forum at that time.

either way, nice looking project.
