Hard to choose from one rendering. I like 1. I think it has a good chance too. It looks to have a fairly conventional structure. 4 is probably next. 3 appears to be the most complicated even if it doesn't look it on the surface. It's supported by X's afterall.

I like 2 and 4 in no particular order.

^ Looks great... what is involved there? It looks like an eastward expansion?

We are going to have to wait a loooong time for those trees to mature, unless they are fake as I see no place for the roots to grow.

A really great proposal for my hometown, but I'm beginning to wonder how much more inventory of this type the city can handle. Kelowna is still a small city, and I'm not sure where the buyers will come from, especially with all of the new regulations coming in to effect soon.

I'd love to see that parking lot disappear though.

I was wondering the same. I believe that it was at the One Water development where they said that half the buyers were from Vancouver and the Coast.

Concert hall - home of the Edmonton Symphony, I believe. The project will add a new, smaller theatre among other things.

The concept by Moriyama & Teshima and British Columbia-based Acton Ostry Architects takes on a house form, with a pitched roofline and ample use of wood for exterior expression.

The concept design from British Columbia-based Patkau Architects and Toronto-based MacLennan Jaunkalns Miller Architects (MJMA) takes on more of a crystalline form, with clear exterior glazing that encases wooden structural elements within.

The plan from Montreal-based Provencher Roy and Toronto-based Turner Fleischer Architects features a rectilinear massing rising from a network of angled supports, with a curving volume place above.

A sculptural concept from Tokyo-based Shigeru Ban Architects and Toronto-based Brook McIlroy offers a slightly more organic take on the site, with curving floorplates wrapped around a central atrium space.

The competing firms will present their concepts to a jury next week. The 20-minute presentations—all open to the public—will include models and information panels that share even more details about the concepts. Members of the public are encouraged to attend the presentations, which will take place on Tuesday, March 27th from 6:30 - 9 PM in the George Brown College Waterfront Campus auditorium at 51 Dockside Drive. The jury will deliberate to choose the winning concept the following day.

I like #1,#2, & 4, but we will probably get #3. It's still nice but it looks too much like the existing campus to it's south.

I managed to find a few larger renders of some of the designs.

^It does. It's how I read the form to start even after reading that it took its form from housing. I still like it the best though. It has a FLW instutional buillding kind of vibe. 2 is so oppressive inside in the interior space given the lack of height between structure and users (at least in the rendering.) i like the exterior structure the least in 4, but the interior space is maybe the most interesting.

That dead zone around the arena could definitely use this.

Yup. It's also all the different (roof) levels and then the PoMo tent like structures. The 10 foot wall facing one street is unfortunate especially since the existing structure doesn't communicate well with the street either. I do understand it's unavoidable with these venues. There's already a lot going on with the existing 90s, PoMo building. This doesn't tie into that either.
