I visited Okotoks. It was unbelievable.

I always enjoy looking at the coat of arms of Canada and the provinces. BC with the Union Jack on top is one of my favorites.

^ The provincial coats of arms are more interesting than their flags IMO.

My impression is that older designs (graphic, architectural, etc.) commonly incorporated coats of arms, while these days it's wordmarks and flags. In some ways the coats of arms were the provincial/territorial logos of their day.

The current logo of Toronto Blue Jays and the original logo of Toronto Raptors are very well designed. I am not sure about the new logo the Raptors is using currently. It looks more appropriate for Nike's basketball related products. I don't understand why they've dropped the mascot.

Toronto Library Archives.

A case of lofty symbolism. The symbol of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce started its journey up to 38th floor of the Commerce Court tower yesterday. The sign-24 feet high and 32 feet wide - is one of three to be bolted to the side of the 57-storey building. Each weigh a ton. The court complex is expected to be finished in 1972.

^Lol. When I read the first post with a town logo in it, I immediately thought of good old Tisdale. I went to University with someone from Tisdale. We had no end of fun making fun of the slogan and the sign. The second one is probably my favorite. That bee just looks evil and the added great design element of way too many font style changes.

^ They could have fixed their slogan by just subbing in 'rapeseed' for 'rape'

Out of curiosity, I'm looking up various waterfront city logos and so far without fail, they at the very least have blue. Most have blue and green.

I also looked up random cities/counties not on big bodies of water or major rivers, and so many, many of them also follow the same logic. Blue, green, swoosh representing water.

Practically all cities or towns we've heard of are situated on or have a lake or river (though I'm not sure about the Prairies). We get it, you have water, so does everyone else!

Agreed, same goes for BMO. At least Scotai has kept theirs.

Scotia Plaza gets logo; Workers deck Scotia Plaza out with its stylized S logo as the office tower nears completion at King and Bay Sts. Robert Campeau sold half of the building to Olympia and York Developments Ltd. To help finance his huge forays into U.S. retailing.

It doesn't roll off the tongue nearly as well though.

- As for Simcoe, 14 of the 19 depict water.
- Surprisingly Innisfil and Ramara don't, despite being on the water.
- Every logo has blue except for Ramara.
- I think the two best looking logos are Simcoe and Wasaga. Innisfil is nice too.
- Tiny is where the cottage is. Last summer they started exploiting beach goers by giving them tickets for parking on side roads that have plenty of room. Total cash grab. The by law officers have a terrible job spending the whole weekend driving around giving tickets. I'm sick and tired of seeing that logo on their cars.

- I like that Pt. Colborne avoided the tendency to go blue. Think their logo is pretty classy.
- Also really like Pelham and Ft. Erie.
- Makes sense that Welland and Thorold built the Welland Canal into their designs. Same with Ft. Erie incorporating the border crossing.
- Naturally both NF and NOTL went with blue and green.
- St. Catharines is also blue and green.
- And soon so will Grimsby, which according to their website is leaning towards this re-design:

That new Grimsby logo looks like it could be for a retirement home.

- I like Cambridge, Kitchener and Woolwich.
- I like how Wellesley is representing their farm industry.
- For being such a technology hub, I can't believe City of Waterloo still has this logo.

god most of these city/region logos are just utter pure shite. Some marketing firm is making a killing selling off terrible/worthless logos to these city leaders.

Scotia ain't the prettiest building now, but it certainly is unique and still holds its own. Have to go there a few times a month to do commercial banking. And my aunt used to work there. Got some great views up there.

Inside is nice too.
