That 1990 effort was a shame, because it nearly passed if i recall correctly.

It would have meant more DMV fees flowing to the city/county, as is the case for San Francisco which is also a city/county entity.

But people decided balkanization was the answer and now we're left with cities fighting over stip malls and sub divisions (ala Los Angeles)..

I also grew up in Rosemont (Caribou Ct.) and I'm torn between annexation to Sacramento and annexation to Rancho Cordova. I am not sure that Rosemont will get the attention it needs if the city of Sacramento annexes it. Parts of it will, however, be up there with some of the best neighborhoods for the city of Rancho Cordova and, IMO, treated better by RC than it would by Sac.

I've got to agree with you there... As a current Rosemont resident (Irish Gold Dr.) I can see the treatment that West RC gets versus the treatment East Sac gets. I'll take Sac City over RC anyday at this point...

555 Capitol Mall has been taken off the market. The business slowdown and
the planned exit of some of the building's key tenants I'm sure had
something to do with it. It's also been reported that offers have been below
what the ownership group expected.

It's doubtful that Rosemont, Arden Arcade or South Sacramento/Fruitridge, will ever be incorporated into the city of Sacramento. At least not before the unincorporated (undeveloped) areas of the county bordering the city are annexed and developed. The city prefers to annex newer neighborhoods because they cost less to provide services and deliver higher property tax returns..

Does anyone know what the deal is with the vacant lot at T & Alhambra? Its a run down building that looks like it's been vacant for years. Throughout the past few months people have put interesting signs up on the fence that surrounds the lot. Some of the signs read, "preserve our past," and someone else would come along and write over it with "clean up our past." Now I think there's just a sign on the fence that says "eyesore."

The project went to Design Review on December 19 for review and comment, and will go to Planning (I assume for review and comment rather than action) on January 24.

No one cares, and I hope we don't ever host garbage like that.

Keep Hollywood out of Sacramento.

That would be a sign of us being noticed as a city, I think it would be really cool! We would probably need more hotels in DT before something like that. Sacramento hasn't reached that level yet. Hosting NBA playoffs, American Idol auditions and events such as these take more people and infrastructure Sacramento does not have yet.

He didn't have my vote, either!...and I agree with you about American Idol. Having the tryouts there is a great thing for a city! Plus, how many people will experience the city that may not otherwise!? How would you campaign for AI to hold their tryouts here?

Sacramento would be a great city to host American Idol!

Arco would be a great place for the tryouts.

Simon, and Company could stay at the Citizen.

Sacramento could represent the whole west coast. Seattle, Portland, SF, LA, PHX, SD, and Vegas have already hosted.

Sacramento is the perfect place for it.

I know you guys are only joking but I find it funny how I'm losing votes for something as trivial as not giving a damn about America Idol.

Enjoy Fargo and your height limits

Majin, if you follow through on this plan of a "well written letter addressed
to the city council, with signatures of residents, business leaders, and even
downtown partnership, and hand deliver it to them the next time
Metropolitain goes up before the council/design review" then you might
be taken a little more seriously around here. You've been joker on
the forum so long that it's really hard to believe anything you say.

Anyone else get a call tonight surveying potential Mayoral candidates? They've
asked about Fargo vs. Roger Dickenson, Dave Jones and Kevin Johnson (hahah).

They're rating attention given to certain issues (low-high) vs. our priorities.

jsf: My personal fave for cookies and cakes is New Roma Bakery on E and 17th Street. Goodie Tuchews is good for cookies but that's really all they make.
