Just wait -- if Trump's ego is as big as this tower, I'm sure he'll purchase the tower himself and install gold trims, brass doorknobs, marble floors, walls and diamonds on the ceilings.

Then he'll brag how he rebuilt the WTC !!

xxskydude, it actually does! I see what you mean. The Smurfit-Stone is a cool building that everyone recognizes as part of the CHI skyline, so that just reassures how iconic tower two will be here in NY

sorry about that response btw, I don't know why some people need to be snotty and nasty about people's opinions, which are all different and something all are entitled two. This is supposed to be a friendly forum.

I agree, but while I think the Smurfit-Stone building fits its corner location perfectly; I think this one will look a little awkward from the north and east. I think these diamond pointed buildings work best when their high point leads the eye up to taller towers. It will be beautiful from the memorial though, which I am sure was the primary perspective considered. Hopefully this one does not get cost engineered as badly as 1 WTC did...

Silverstein's putting it on hold until money from a tenant is found to prevent it being cost-engineered! It's his favourite tower of the complex.

Absolutely right!

I'm a Chicagoan myself, and if I were to compare the 2WTC to any other building, the Smurfit-Stone would be its best bet.

It's so awesome to welcome a Chicagoan to the NYC group here.
I usually read the NY skyscraper threads that interest me because I am close enough where I can drive to the city if I want.
New York and Chicago are my top two fav cities, hands down!
I also agree with the group at the visual impact 2 WTC will have on the complex.
It seems that the best tower is being saved for last !!

Everyone who's comparing this building to Smurfit-Stone should know that Norman Foster is a bit of a plagiarist. Most of his buildings take after the form or shape of some pre-existing building, but are then given a twist, either with fancy engineering or glass.

Ok man you have the right to your opinion but if you don't like the building why are you on this forum. I think this building is the best.

^ Being on the forum doesn't mean you have to like everything. I think this building is fine, and could probably be my favorite of the new WTC towers. So much about these towers that renderings just don't give you. When this rises next to the Freedom Tower, some will be surprised at just how tall it is viewed from around the City.

Agreed. The massive height with the awe-inspiring diamond-shaped tops will look impressive.

I know the plan is to mothball this thing and wait, but it's already got some large above ground parts built. Are they just going to leave it as a fenced off construction site or will they build some temporary retail space out of it or something?

Larry Silverstein has invested allot of time and money into this massive project.
I am certain that he would want this tower built A.S.A.P. because that means more income for him !!
