Hi Sem1981, and welcome to the forum!

It's great to see pictures from your part of the world. I'm fascinated by Russia - always have been. Such a massive country, everything there seems so dramatic compared to cosy old western Europe.

It seems as though Yekaterinberg has seen a lot of change - lots of shiny new buildings and public art. What is it like to live there? Is the city expanding fast? What attitude do people have to the Soviet era? It's fascinating to see that statue of Lenin.

Thanks for sharing

I'm glad someone like my photos
Unfortunately I don't live in Yekaterinberg. It's was my work trip. I live in small town near Moscow.
People think about Soviet era different things, old people seems to like it and youth think it was fear and wildly.

By the way when I was in school (1988) all young pupils had to wear the same badge in their uniform.

Great thread. Thanks so much. I really must take a trip back to mother Russia one of these days.

Unfortunately I don't know exactly what is it. And I'm afraid it's simple decoration.

I'm Ukrainian myself but always considered myself part Russian since my mom's side is Russian and I have a lot of cousins in Moscow..

This looks a lot like the Russian towns I'm amazed how there's no leaves on the trees yet!! And also, what's up with people not cleaning their cars over there?

it seems like this guy just replaced his door and the car hasn't seen soap since it was born! haha

although it's nice to see some modern development there to compete with the commie blocks

Nice pictures. I've never heard of most places in Russia (and remembering the long Russian names is tough), so this is interesting.

Around the year 2006. Antei started to build in 2006.
And in the photos it does not exist.

It was in the begining of April, 2007.
There are had been some snow in the streets. That's the reason why the cars are so dirty.

I think that Sverdlovsk was a forbidden city for foreign tourists in the Communist era!
