Agree. Won't this be the 6th tallest in Austin (not including Fairmont spire)?

I would love it if and when we decide to finally start burying power lines.

Yes, 7th tallest counting the spire on the Fairmont, and 6th tallest not counting Fairmont's spire. 360 has a spire, too, but 360's roof is still 21 feet taller than 5th & West's roof. 5th & West and the Fairmont are much closer in roof heights. 5th & West's roof is only 3 feet taller than the Fairmont's roof.

From today

From I-35

By the way, whatever happens with 600 Guadalupe is really going to tower in this view. Look at 300 West Sixth there, and you can figure on tripling it and some more if they end up going with the mid-70s floor number like they say they want to. At that height, its roof would be out of the frame in this photo.

As it stands now, that looks pretty impressive, with 13 to go.

Those views will really benefit from the CVC.

Does anyone know if the W has noise issues from the warehouse district or if Seven has noise issues from W 6th? I am curious if this one will hear W 6th?

An acquaintance of mine who lives in Seven just joined the forum Sunday, NY Joe. Joe, if you are signed in and able to post, maybe you can chime in on this...

This building will help out a bit with the dynamics of our skyline. Until now most of our buildings have been square or rectangular, save for 700 Lavaca because of that CVC on that lot, but this one will be a bit different.

Yeah, a lot of the remaining lots in a lot of that part of downtown that are ripe for a new building (not having to tear down much existing stuff, in other words) are in CVCs, which could bring some cool angles. I'm very much looking forward to the future of development in Austin because of that. Hoping for some interesting stuff, and maybe more height!

I LOVE that view. The anti-high rise folks can say what they want, but I think the capitol view corridors and the skyscrapers that line them emphasize the significance of the state capitol rather than degrade it.

This! I drive up the Lamar Bridge every morning and I love how the buildings perfectly frame the Capitol as you cross the bridge. It enhances the experience of seeing the Capitol rather than detracts from it.

Pretty sure that's the Independent not Fifth & West. The crane on Fifth & West is not far above the highest floor, although new sections are on site now. I also took this photo yesterday.
