At least the sewer line issue was caught before the airport opened. I can only imagine how much worse it would have been to have toilets backing up shortly after opening.

This will definitely give enough time for the new garage and the new independent lounge to be finished in time for the opening. I was a bit concerned those would still be under construction with the original opening date. Also a bit of cushion for the intersection work at Loyola and I-10.

Concerning Charity, I'll be pleased with whichever development goes in. Better than the empty shell it is now.

September Update

Hi everyone,

As you have probably noticed, we are nearly ready to open! Since my last update, we have been restoring furniture, hanging curtains, hiring staff, landscaping, lighting up the building exterior, and building our website, (teaser page up at www.hotelpeterandpaul.com, full version to follow soon).

Our new General Manager is Jennifer Dragna, who came to us from the Hotel St. James (her email is jennifer [at] hotelpeterandpaul.com). We have hired about 9 other people from this neighborhood as well as other parts of the city.

Besides staff, we are super pleased with the beautiful work of the local artisans we worked with. Within 10 miles of the hotel we got: beds (9th Ward), armoires and side tables (Marigny), bar (Lower Garden District), reception desk (Uptown), curtains (Marigny and Metairie), a ton of upholstery (Chalmette), and some amazing murals (Arabi). In keeping with the neighborhood theme, we partnered with the good folks / wine nerds at Bacchanal to create an amazing wine and cocktail list, filled with niche-y finds they can’t provide at the higher volumes they are used to. They’ve prepared a short menu of plates riffing on “deconstructed brunch.” The ground floor of the rectory (our lobby) will be open to anyone all day for sitting, sipping, reading and nibbling. We will also serve great coffee and juices there.

As we put on the finishing touches, we’re anticipating accepting hotel guests in mid-October and opening the public spaces in the rectory at the end of October.

We will be offering discounts to Marignyites for both staycations and food/drinks at the rectory bar, so stay tuned for more info on that. I’m still happy to tour people around, email me at nathalie [at] hotelpeterandpaul.com if you are interested. Thank you so much for your patience and support, we can’t wait to welcome you in!

The new headquarters for the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) Local 478 is 95% complete! The renovation includes union offices, a conference and training facility, a new kitchen and tenant lease space. It should be ready for occupancy in October. We’ll have some updated construction photos coming VERY SOON!

This is the current concept design for State Street Retail,

Iconic Hibernia building cupola gets $1 million upgrade

https://realestate.nola.com/realesta...rt_river_index

The iconic cupola on top of the former Hibernia Bank building in downtown New Orleans has a fresh look.

On Monday (Sept. 24), Mayor LaToya Cantrell joined leaders from HRI Properties, an owner of the historic building, and Capital One Bank, which acquired Hibernia Bank in 2005, to unveil the renovated cupola. HRI and Capital One partnered to pay for $1 million in upgrades to the dome, including a new LED lighting system.

A distinctive part of the New Orleans skyline for nearly a century, the cupola's new lighting system will allow it to shine in a "dazzling array of eye-catching colors at night," according to a news release.

Well, they'd better stick some neat materials to the façade, or people will hate it.
I can think of some aluminium or dark contemporary cladding that would surely save it.

Otherwise, this is typically the reason why so many still hate modernism, while it's actually very fine when properly designed with a bit of generous money to it.

This is a bit sad, though.

well its not a visible plot so at some point you will never see it.. especially once my place is bulldozed and replaced along with the fire station
