Thanks! Just posted this in the FMC thread, but it also shows the progress of CTC pretty well. From this morning in Cherry Hill.

Yes, Philly really needs to step up its game for buildings that are not skyscrapers too. Maybe not a fair comparison, since it's our nation's capital and a lot of the buildings may bengibernment buildings, but DC does a tremendous job.

Lit Brothers building is an exception in Philly and lit stunningly. Of course the Morman Temple you note. The buildings in the South Broad blocks and AKA at Rittenhouse are other good examples, but we need to do better overall.

Comcast is looking good! First vertical pieces that take the steel over the core have been placed! These floors should be up in their entirety soon.

Is the final floor of the hotel up? I'm not sure where it is in relation to the core?

They're just under the atrium level right now.

Right. And the atrium part of the hotel is above the core, I believe. Two floors without any core. So, the steel is not quite there yet. But soon. (The most recently placed vertical piece of steel ends at the top of or just slightly above the core)

Noticed this today on philly.com: http://www.philly.com/philly/brand/3...www.philly.com

General Building Contractors Association award for Excellence in Technological Advancement

Quote:
AmQuip

Contracted to furnish the tower crane on the concrete core of the new Comcast building, AmQuip provided a unique solution, which involved engineering and fabricating an outrigger system that supports the crane and which attaches to the outside of the concrete core. Additionally, AmQuip designed and fabricated support bracing inside the core to carry the loads. There were two outrigger support systems attaching the crane to the core. Prior to each climb, a third outrigger support bracing was attached to the core. The crane was climbed to 87 feet, and the bottom support bracing was then removed. This process continued throughout the job until the crane reached a final height of 1,100 feet above street level.

Does anyone know if CITC will need a mass damper (i.e., counterbalance) near the top of the bldg?

Without knowing what has been designed already, the answer is that they will need some kind of damping. I hope they go with some kind of distributed system rather than taking up valuable space with a tuned mass damper or slosh tank. Distributed systems are more reactive and don't take up whole floors; basically shock absorbers placed in strategic locations throughout the building.

Well they're working on the spa level now. And there'll be a pool up there.

They're already done that floor (57). They're working on a mechanical floor (58)
