I just noticed the flowers in the paintings, which makes more sense when the first time it failed design review for not being as connected to the region. I am really liking this building, it is very unique and feels very Portland.

It's a shame they didn't work with local artists to dream up something better than an Amusement Park chic motif... because what they designed looks like it should be in front of a roller coaster for kids.

Dumbbell is goofy, but fun. It adds a lot to the corner. Burnside has come a long way.

Little LOCA looks really awful....

St Francis makes me feel lost whenever I am over there, it is amazing how this building has changed the look and feel of that area. It is an improvement from the bums camping in the park, but definitely a major change for the area. Just another one of those signs that little Portland is becoming a big city.

811 Stark really impresses me, it is really striking architecture for that area.

The new rooftop bar at the Washington High School has a great skyline view. I snuck up there before it opened.

Indeed. And the dark part isn't even the worst part of this building, it's that corner. Talk about a characterless eyesore. The park was so much better, regardless of who the inhabitants were.

Gonna disagree. Took a property that was underutilized and a "park" only in name only. Now has over 100 low income apartments in the central city, including 20 for women transitioning from being homelessness. Is it a Hacker/WPA worthy design? No, but it's a win nonetheless and an improved design after review.

I lean towards appreciating this building aesthetically thanks to its simple material palette. I think it looks quite a bit better in person, personally. Yes, it's "cheap", but it also looks relatively durable. I'd take this sort of approach over Sera's typical mishmash of materials and design elements any day -- it won't win any awards but it's not an eyesore, either, and its purpose is laudable (a far better use of that site than the "park" of destitution that was previously there).

I'm least crazy about the corrugated metal siding on the SE corner. That would have been a good spot for a splash of color(s) to set off the charcoal panels, which I actually like.

Jupiter Hotel expansion is really taking shape -- looking forward to the asphalt shingle installation. It's surprisingly large in person.

Speaking of Burnside, I wonder what the status is of the building slated to go in where the house that was home to The Farm restaurant once stood...it's just a vacant lot now with no discernible activity.
