^ interesting read, thx for posting.

I saw this: "Every year, the Millennium Line will carry the same number of people as 20 lanes of highway."

In comparison, the Canada Line is equivalent to 10-lanes and the proposed Evergreen Line LRT is 8-lanes.

I'm surprised at the rather high 30,000 pphpd figure....i'm assuming it might have to do with more advanced infrastructure than the Expo Line?

Did a search of the Legislative Library for "Rapid Transit Project 2000" and came up with a lot of hits. Any documents with a "rapidtransit" URL would be out-of-date - but any with a www.llbc.bc.ca URL would be from the Legislative Livbrary and still available - have fun searching - there are WAYYY too many to review.

Legislative Library website:

http://www.webpac.leg.bc.ca/

Interesting document from 1998 providing background of the M-Line entitled "Project Description":

http://www.llbc.leg.bc.ca./public/Pu...escription.pdf

Includes this chart (note that the max capacity of a MKII is 171 per car = 342 per train).

^ interesting. They considered building 50-metre platforms for the SkyTrain Millennium Line so that they can fit 4-car Mark I trains and 3-car Mark II trains. But it doesn't stop at 50-metres, the stations would have been designed to be expandable to 80-metres. obviously, we took the right step with 80-metres right from the beginning.

with regards to the Canada Line, i really think they should've built 60-metre platforms.

Hey, those numbers are consistent though - Canada Line's capacity is 15,000 pphpd - which is half the M-Line's capacity.

The 30,000 figure (versus mid 20s for the Expo Line) could be due to the MKII cars.

Diagram upgraded. Unfortunately, the SkyTrain and Canada Line logos look very ugly... looks like an attempt by a grade 1 student with crayons... maybe I should take them off.

Wow 50m... Even the Millennium Line planning (back then) wanted longer platforms than our current Canada Line ones.

Diagram with my ugly attempt of the logos out:

I tried to make it more "TransLink" like - the font, style of maps, stations, etc.

Corrected: Vancouver City Centre Position
Changed (from the old one): M-Line stations, "Production Way - University" now "Production Way - SFU", Changed YVR-Airport to YVR-Terminal and YVR-3 is YVR-International. Any other creative names? =)
Added RapidBus routes (I named them randomly: 9_ B-Line)

Sorry to nitpick - Granville should be moved to the right of the Canada Line.

The circle-T is not Translink's official logo, is it?

I thought it was just a symbol to denote a transit station.

Go to Page 26 of this Ridership Study document for Skytrain Operating Line Options - i.e. the possible routes when the PMC Line was implemented:

Document entitled:
Translink
Broadway/Lougheed Rapid Transit Line, Phase 11 - Commercial Drive West

I think that this was the report removed from the City of Vancouver's website.

That's what I was sort of thinking... but then it wouldn't match with the M-Line and Ev-Line at Fir Station right? I'm going to make an attempt to create a scaled map similar to the ones at the M-Line stations.

No it isn't TransLink's official logo. Originally, I wanted to put the logo with the train but I'm not a photoshop expert or can I find one online that's easy to work with. If someone can find one that looks similar to the TransLink's Rail logo, please do tell me. Also if someone finds a big SkyTrain logo and Canada Line logo I can work with it and include it on the map.

Gotcha - no problem.

*********

FYI - South of Fraser Transit Plan Research from the Legislative Library - Dated July 2007.

http://www.llbc.leg.bc.ca./public/Pu...rt_Oct2007.pdf

The appendix included this Future Rapid Transit map - note that it shows a B-Line through Burnaby (past BCIT?) and note that it shows the Port Mann B-Line exiting at Brunette then along Lougheed Highway to Lougheed Station:

Great job.

The more I see the Canada Line split in two the more I like it. Plus if they were to do that it would be an easily political point to score because you could call it two lines instead of one.

I knew back the they wanted the B-Line all the way to Brentwood Station. But those were all plans up in the air.

I would still like the 91 B-Line to Brentwood though. It just makes more sense. It would be better too. Metrotown station is really busy, if we make a B-Line to BCIT, some of the commuters will be directed to Joyce, which i guess frees up space in Metrotown station.

Might be a good idea. It could also connect Burnaby Hospital to the B-Line network.

Yah, it should just follow the same route the 25 goes along after it crosses Boundary Road.

Not to mention that for People on the line who want to take the Skytrain in Vancouver, a 91 b-line stop at Joyce would mean they wouldn't have to needlessly buy a 2-zone pass to do so.

Then again, once the Canada Line comes on-line, they could use that to get onto the train network in the same zone.

great map! what program do you use? the only thing i'd love (someone suggested it on this forum, can't remember tho) is if the evergreen line branding was eliminated and just called millenium, and if the expo line were split like the canada line with termini at lougheed and 168th
