March 26, 7-9pm @ 10042-103st

Join us for our first quarterly General Meeting for DECL members. With the renovations to our new space complete, we plan to host quarterly get-togethers for our membership to discuss the on-going business of the league and downtown issues at large.

It's your chance to find out what's going on in your community, share your thoughts, questions, and ideas, and meet your neighbour!

A rough meeting agenda will be posted closer to the meeting date with a special guest speaker yet to be confirmed. Stay tuned!

$5 2013-2014 DECL Memberships will be available at the door. Light refreshments will be available.

We will be having a presentation by the City on their new Corporate Way-Finding initiative and discuss the Scott Park (105st/102ave) development among other things.

PLEASE remove the sign of Government of Stephen Harper providing support fom the Window before I throw a rock through it. If it's removed I might actually come down. The sucking up is long over about the support funding.

I believe they are contractually obligated to display that sign for a period of time

Does that park have a playground? If not, it should.

Contractually? It is a small leased space with some home improvements.

^ One of the stipulations for a funding grant through the federal "economic action plan" you have to display the sign for a set period of time.

We just completed a $140,000 commercial kitchen renovation at the Parkdale hall in part using funds form the EAP (you may have seen the blurb on the news last week)

It seemed the feds were much more concerned about the sign than they were with the funds for the project. When we had Rona and a few others by, they were more interested in getting a photo by the sign than seeing the beautiful new kitchen we had built!

'THE PLAN' sign is coming down but it indeed HAD to be up as one of the stipulations of our grant.

Not a playground per se, but we hope to have climbable pieces and perhaps some play like seating/activities so that all can enjoy... dont worry.

A PACKED house last night with a great presentation by the City on their new Way-finding initiative and an update on the new park at 105st/102ave. Great to see so many new faces who are engaged and excited about downtown!

Yeah, that was really good. New faces, old faces.

Cold, I think there was a curb and catchbasin repair on 103 that you forgot to mention in your construction update...

We will have EPS there and a full presentation on the new downtown park... and will want feedback on the potential name!

I'm moving downtown next weekend, so it'll be easier for me to attend these things in the future.

^Next general meeting won't be until late summer, early fall. The board takes a break in July.

Also, our annual Cornfest will be hosted again this year in Beaverhills House Park on Sept 6. Details to come in the following weeks.
