I am a little confused with the stone.. they stated they were going to clean it, but a lot of the stone is still stained black, and the parts that are new are very light coloured.. the original stone is a yellowish grey colour with what looks like soot or grime stains on them..
maybe they'll powerwash them when they are up? I dunno.. You can see the original stippling details inside the stone have really eroded away over the years too, whereas the new pieces are very stark in their freshness by comparison..
was able to get a closeup to take a look at it.. I'll really have to see how this looks like pieced together.. it's impossible to gauge at the moment all in pieces..
also was able to see how they are anchoring them - the stones appear to be hollow like cinderblocks, and they anchor a metal piece they connect to the jutouts on the building into the interior of the stone, pretty cool stuff!
makes you wonder if maybe they should have just requarried the whole thing.. from what memory recalls they had to do restoration on 2/3s of the face..
I'm just worried that it's going to look tired.. or a weird mishmash.. guess we'll just have to wait and see!
still makes me cringe to see what they were allowed to do to the facade..

if you look closely you can still see the supports left over from where the college sign was on the facade on the lower right.
whats interesting is that it matched the original lister block design, which was changed when they rebuilt it after the fire.
