Does anyone know what this will look like? The facade is clearly being built differently than the rest of the building.
The view from the Downey Brand camera makes it appear to me that it will look like the rest of the facade.

That's the south side. I'm talking about the north side, near what used to be Hard Rock Cafe.

Ah sorry. I misunderstood.

This rendering seems to show that the crinkled can facade ends and that north part across from Hard Rock will look different. But the rendering gives little clue as to how it will look.

It was going to be Terracotta, but now it's going to be metal that "looks like" Terracotta. They had to go back to the planning commission to get the change approved because real terracotta was going to be too expensive.

It is going to contrast, not blend in the with Arena.

Ah, thanks for the info. I was hoping that part of the practice facility would look a bit different to give a better transition from the large brick building at 7th & K

Anyone know anything about macy's? I hate the facade and it looks like changes are being made to a couple of walls, hoping they will take the chance to make it less brutalist?

Who knows when that will get started -- Macy's hasn't submitted any renderings of the makeover other than what the Kings have provided, which are revamping the entrances and repainting the exterior walls.

I'm kinda bum that the Golden 1 Center will have the words "Credit Union" on its name. Outsiders are going to believe its the Golden 1 Credit Union Center.

Here's a link to the Planning and Design Commission presentation that includes concept art for the K St facade (see page 4). I think this is the terra cotta version, but I assume the final version will look somewhat similar?

I went back and found the final discussion on April 16, 2015. They agreed to use a white colored glass like material that will match the south side of the facility. Although it would have the same visual texture. The terra cotta color is not going to be used. But the small box like feature will be darker than the white.

I don't think anyone, even non-locals, are going to go out of their way to call it the 'Golden 1 Credit Union Center'. People like short names and acronyms - It'll be widely known as either 'Golden 1 Center' or 'G1C' for short.

If you look at the interior cam on the G1C website, you can see they just started putting in the steel supports for the lower bowl. It's pretty cool getting to watch the whole construction progress.
