This hotel project is around 100 metres from the bomb blast site outside Victoria Station the second largest rail station in the city centre.

And finally for today's update, the core is rising and first cladding installed on what will be the tallest building in the city on completion, the 670ft Owen St 1. It's smaller brother Owen St 4 is also rising with 2 & 3 due to commence next year.

Cladding on the Owen St. project looks very promising. Very Ian Simpson-esque design. Lots of great projects happening in Manchester!

Agreed. The Brits have had that very thing for sleek glass panels you and I love so (maybe too?) much.
Some more traditional may find it bland, I still love it because there's some careful material engineering and design behind these sleek transparent things.

It's not an easy or cheap thing to make modern buildings look so sleek. So you got to appreciate it, was it for the tremendous engineering work alone.

The reign of the 670ft Owen St tower as the tallest building in the city might not last long as the city council yesterday approved the planning application for a new project, the tallest building of which will be 699ft on completion.
