Transmitters on the Roof of the Bill Graham Auditorium

There are 3 "rooms" on the roof with white walls to hide the transmitters. They were put there about 1 year ago. Note the metal cover that connects two of the "rooms".

^^If they've been there awhile, those are probably "regular" (3/4G) cell transmitters. My building (and I'll bet Fox Plaza) rents the roof for these. I believe we rent to Verizon. We get $95,000/year for our roof space from them which is why most buildings do it.

The equipment pictured on the Bill Graham Auditorium was installed in January 2018 by Metro Electric. My photo is dated 1/2018. I was told it is for AT&T.

Yes, the Fox Plaza has had telecommunications equipment on the roof for decades. Because of vandalism the roof has been closed to the tenants for 25 years or so. It was a nice place to view the city & sunbath.

Major addition to the scaffold in the "notch". Looks like it is at it's highest.

3/12/2020 - I've not seen rebar in a cross shape before in construction as seen here at the elevator shaft. Interesting.

I think the upright rebar is as tall as the building will be.

3/17/2020 - 1st day of shelter in place today
No construction workers on the Trinity Place IV site today. Are all the highrise constructions sites now idle until April 7th?

Thumbs up 4/4/2020 In the Rain

Work was done in the rain today on the top of the building. Note the guys in the yellow raincoats.

The west side of the building has reached the top floor, 2 floors above the "notch" on the corner. The east side of the building is nearing the top floor completion.

It will be interesting to see how the mechanical rooms are hidden as some of the other buildings were cleverly concealed.

The oval shape of the mechanical room can now be seen today on the floor of the roof.

April 6, 2020 Crane

Is the crane coming down today? I see 3 men on the crane this morning, the larger of the 2 cranes. (select the image to be taken to see a larger image on Flickr)

Today the scaffold in the "notch" is being removed. Things are moving fast on the top level!

Cinco de Mayo 2020

It appears that there will be canopies over the sidewalk. I believe this building could have been a much nicer one if the cladding had been a little bit richer.

The building has reached it's highest point I think. Scale models do not show the mechanical rooms on the roof but I think from the rebar in place now they will be hidden in ovals & circles similar to the ones in III which I find attractive.

This turned out nice. Much better than what it replaced.
