Here is the herald story on VS opening at HSC. It's funny how they forgot to mention Apple opening on Saturday.

Another big addition to the mall, and VS's first store outside of Ontario, BC, and Alberta. First store east of Toronto
One may have opened or is opening in Laval. It was listed on the Canadian Store location site.

According to the herald article above it is opening later this month, and I believe Winnipeg is getting a store this fall/winter.

There are numerous indoor shopping malls in Halifax but the big ones are Halifax Shopping Centre and Mic Mac Mall

I was HSC today. The Apple Store did not seem as busy as I figured it would be given it being the first one in the Atlantic Provinces. Maybe I was there late and the initial crowd that I heard of had disappeared.

I heard the VS opening was much bigger, but I guess that makes sense given that VS products are new to the market and Apple products have always been here.

When the new iPhone launches I imagine it will be a different story

Good point. I was there this morning around 11 and the store was almost packed, with a steady stream of people coming and going. There was a feeling of excitement in the air.

I'm sure the local members of the Apple Cult are euphoric.

For how much I (dis)like Apple, their products do look nice.

But has a company... I can't say that they have good business practices. Their guiding philosophy seems to be. "If you can't innovate any further, sue." They recently put a patent on an on screen display. Like pop up menus on your 1996 VCR. Stuff like that halts technological progress, having perfect competition promotes innovation. Apple doesn't seem to like ANY competition. So what if someone creating a rectangle phone with a touch screen... You should be moving on and doing something BETTER!

Anyway, I will have to check out the store soon, but other than that I can't say I will buy anything there.

I was in there today and it was pretty packed... Only stayed a few minutes as it was way too busy to wheel a baby stroller around in there without hitting people!

I was in the Apple Store on Saturday and I have to say that it was jam packed. Moreover, the service was both quick and effecient. HSC turned itself into an upscale Mall sucessfully, it has been able to attract big names and differentiate itself from Mic Mac Mall.

Halifax is such a interesting city for his size! The Future is bright, only by the number of cranes all over the place. I should say my only concern for Halifax as far as downtown goes is Barrington street, it has quite a few empty spots.

Dartmouth was an incorporated city prior to 1996.

In 1996, the former cities of Halifax and Dartmouth, as well as the town of Bedford and the Municipality of the County of Halifax were amalgamated to form a single municipal unit named Halifax Regional Municipality.

Halifax is one community in HRM. Dartmouth is another community within HRM. It is kind of similar to Scarborough and York as former cities that are now part of Toronto.
