I like the massing and the way they break it up, but not a big fan of the neon green and burnt orange/brick red color palette. Other than that, this is a nice, handsome tower.

These are staple Seattle colors right now. Better than transparent glass with tan/beige balconies or slab walls.

My thoughts exactly. Hopefully the colors will be changed before it gets built. Outside of that, it's a nice looking tower.

I agree, it does break up the monotony of the façade. Those colors just aren't my colors. I'd love to see white used instead. Maybe a blue or teal....

I like seeing some different colors.

Rumor has it this will start digging next month. That jibes with the typical five months (or more) needed for a shoring permit. They applied June 19.

Demolition is often well in advance. It removes uncertainty, and also allows them to test soil conditions and contamination before digging.

The scope, btw, is 200 underground parking spaces, 342 apartments, and 142 hotel rooms, on a 14,400 sf site (1/3 acre).

Most of the left overs (Debris in the pic above) is gone. The site is for the most part ready for the foundation work/demo portion.

Really "construction starts on tower??"

This project only has permit for digging a hole and shoring up the sides.

It seems a bit loose and misleading to state that construction is starting on "a tower."

It is curious that a developer who has only completed one ground-up project of 4 stories is somehow qualified to build a skyscraper.

Hmmm ... Don't you consider this odd

It seems to be inquiry from someone in Texas ready to do EB-5 and wanting info about Potala Tower. "Landlord" states Turner Construction and cites world class Turner Projects. True or False? Is Potala Tower Turner or PCL?

This guy is on SSP and SSC only to attack this one project. His motives aren't clear but it's some sort of vandetta.

Yeah I figured. "Check your facts", is the same type of user name that some NIMBY or anti-development fruitloop would use. Next to the "Children of the shadows" which would make sense for those who are against the 57th Street supertalls.

I use to have my email on my signature, and would you imagine I'd get emails from concerned residents and activists asking how I could support such a monstrosity. This being for brooklyn developments. That's why I took it off.

But how often does the Lt Governor (WA Lt Gov Brad Owen) go to China and speak at what appears to be the round 2 fundraising for a project and state that it will be complete "this summer" (2014) when it hasn't even got shoring and grading permit and is just dirt.

Here's the link to his speech. It could have misled a bunch of folks into investing 1/2 Million each
