Not entirely. They've built several in China in the last decade, particularly the Lupu Bridge in Shanghai (my favourite in this city, where cable-stayed bridges are a dime a dozen), a new Yangtze road crossing in Chongqing, and a high speed rail bridge across the Yangtze at Nanjing.

Long span arch bridges are very beautiful, IMO. I wish there was a way to keep the old Port Mann - I used to love driving over it when visiting Vancouver.

Yeah, it's too bad they're getting rid of it. But of course now that they've built the new span so close it would look pretty stupid to have them crammed together like that.

Perhaps this abandoned bridge is not great, but it's still interesting none the less. Seen deep in the interior of Alberta.

I love searching out old, forgotten or abandoned bridges.

Cool, thanks for posting!

Yeah, I am also sad to see all of our long arch bridges slowly go the way of the dinosaur, but in this case what we are getting in return is amazing!

Honestly, if I was a bridge, I would have sex with this bridge.

The Deh Cho Bridge opens this afternoon. No more delays because of freeze-up or break-up.

Again, not a great bridge, but a very interesting one none the less. The abandoned East Coulee road/rail bridge in Alberta Canada.

Neat pics, I find it interesting seeing some of the abandon infrastructure that's out there and we do have a lot of it, especially rail.

I don't have any photos but the Region of Waterloo opened a new $50 million bridge across the Grand River yesterday. First new bridge across the Grand in the Region in about 50 years.

It's relatively utilitarian but not bad. It has some decorative stonework and will have an observation platform on the Cambridge side. The banks of the Grand are quite high at that location, so it does provide some interesting views (including of encroaching suburbs on the Kitchener side). It certainly improves the link between the airport and the south end of Kitchener.

In other news, the Record had a headline today that the West Montrose covered bridge was again open to horses and buggies, but not cars. That is definitely a Waterloo Region story!

Another not so famous but interesting bridge, this one on a former CPR rail line. The first picture was taken in 2012, the second shows the bridge being repaired in 1947. The location is deep in Alberta.

Kinnaird Bridge Castlegar BC. 60 feet tall 900 feet long. Part of Highway 3 over the Columbia River. Built in 1960 it won a Design Canada award of Excellence for its "interesting use of concrete".
