The construction is just the beginning. All the construction that you saw in the past, was just a warm up. Toronto is gonna burn up with construction in the next few years. Lots of big projects going down with a particular focus on the Entertainment District and Yorkville.

These areas will become the new playgrounds of the rich and famous. I notice that the younger celebs seem to really like these areas of Toronto when they come here. They feed off the vibe. I guess they think it's electric..... who knows..

That reminds me....

Film festival in September... and Tiff is almost finished...

Did I post this here?

Are you sure the weathered cladding isn't just the lighting of the photo?
I was born and raised just a block from Bloor and Spadina and moved to Vancouver when I was 13 so this it's really neat to see how much the my childhood B/yorkville skyline has grown.
I remember looking up at 1 Bloor West as a kid in awe and could swear it swayed a little!

Nothing to do with vibe. The celebrities that see Toronto as nothing more than another stop on the tour hang out in these neighbourhoods because that's where the hotels are.

I still wish your passion was more inclusive. I don't think your focus on the Top 30 gives a great representation of design in Toronto

New thread....

Great Canadian Designs Under-Construction

of course totally subjective.... but probably a bit more interesting than Under-Construction in Canada?? just everyone will put any piece of crap going up in their town in there.

That's why I like the rules with being the tallest. You have to meet this mark to get in.

I'm not a huge fan of the colour of 18 York's curtainwall but, I really appreciate the finish. The frit adds both depth and texture .

Awesome perspective on Uptown by redroom studios over at UT:

http://urbantoronto.ca/showthread.ph...urka%29/page66

I think Casa looks its best here because it looks really sleek from this angle! And once uptown is topped off it'll look beyond sweet in between Manulife and the tower cluster at yonge/bloor!

Can't agree with you more! I said it over at ut:

Toronto really is a big city with a small town feel

St. Lawerence Market.. Thats what is giving the smaller town feel in that shot. Shows the real impact of that neighbourhood, even at distance.

Oh, Caltrane. The St Lawrence Market is buried and out of sight. I'm not aware of too many smaller towns with rows of 10 storey "slabs" if the St Lawrence neighbourhood was the direction you were going.

I thought that shot looked more Halifax-y with some towers thrown in.
