It actually looks European to me. Think Berlin or Rotterdam.

Why did they make 21 Rio look so short? Its several stories shorter than in reality.

Because the sole purpose of renderings is to make the featured project look like the most awesome thing around.

This project has a new (to me) website with a promotional video and some new renderings. Here's one of the renderings.

The website: http://www.universityhouse.com/UH-Austin/Gallery.aspx

Did anyone else notice that giant TV on the pool deck (it was in previous renderings as well)?

If that is not just rendering fluff, and actually makes it into the final product, it will make quite the place to watch UT football games.

After reading your response I studied the image again and the 3rd dimension popped into view. The way part of the house is hidden in the trees made it look 2-dimensional and I was unable to see it as being anything other than a mural. Interesting illusion.

The rendering posted by The ATX looks pretty sweet. I wonder why this trick isn't used more often, to show renderings in attractive lighting that is more flattering than bright sunshine.

I could only tell because I used to walk by there every morning when I lived in West Campus.

It's an old trick, although sometimes even the most beautiful sunset can't distract from a truly ugly building.
