The plan generally seems to have been to extend it parallel to the Metrolink ROW along San Fernando Road, where there is room for two additional tracks. That space might be taken up (under certain conditions) by CAHSR, but it might not. One potential alternative was to serve downtown Glendale up Brand.
Things change though, and I'm excited to see what results from this study. These communities really need to be connected to the Metro system at rapid transit frequencies, and this seems like a reasonable way to do it to me.
