These are mostly pictures taken at Cabrini Green, which demanded my attention when I was driving by on Division Street one day and saw half a building. It was a Cabrini highrise, which, as those of you who follow Chicago urban projects may know, is only the latest public housing project to come down in this city to make way for luxury condos.
This is the building. I was struck by how you could see the colored tiles on the walls that used to be someone's living room, bathroom, kitchen...
Closeup.
Then I started wandering around to other parts of the complex.
To give you a sense of location, both of the following pictures were taken while standing in a field that was part of Cabrini.
Earlier in the day, I was walking on Elston in a somewhat industrial area with a few patches of residential. Here are three photos from there.
