Some new info - 2019 opening. Sign also gives contact info and a link for the project, but the link is not yet active.

Nice photos, Keith. The light in those is really neat looking, especially that strip of sunlight on the Hotel ZaZa.

Designs like that circular window and concrete lattice feature are what will make this building really great over time.

Does anybody know whether any of the interior build out for the hotel portion of this building is currently underway? Usually by this point in the construction process there should be considerable work starting to happen fitting out the hotel rooms and public spaces.

Waiting for the old gingerman facade to go up. Assuming that's still the plan, and it seems like it is, that will be a sweet blast from the past.

They better get cracking then. There is a LOT of work that needs to be done. I tried to book a room and was not able. Kind of makes me wonder how firm this date might be.

Just looking at the building, I’m confused where the apartments are located. Typically in a hotel with residential, I can tell pretty easily. (Hilton/W)

It seems like the high rise hotels in town stay away from balconies, this has balconies on every floor.

First six floors above the parking garage do not have balconies. That is likely the hotel portion.
Edit: at least on the south facing side. I see the balconies go all the way on the west facing side. Perhaps they aren't concerned about balconies for the first six levels or so above the pool.

Damn figured they'd try to be open by SXSW. That's a lot of lost revenue for the year.

Yeah, and as austlar1 said, it's pretty ambitious, all things considered. I'm betting June or July, TBH.

Yeah. I saw that. I also haven’t seen the Gables advertising the residences yet. Typically they will start with renderings and accepting email addresses for pre-leasing availability. Though I haven’t checked Gables’ social media.

That's still pretty ambitious. Methinks 2020.

Drove past there this afternoon. There does not seem to be much happening at ground level or upstairs either. The site was almost deserted. Something does not seem right about this project. Anybody have any updates or information?

My three theories;
1) Online timing
2) Financial (contract issues with laborers)
3) Laborers taking a break and resting their arms after laying all those bricks.

I took a walk by on my lunch break today. Silent as the grave. Not a soul to be seen. Totally creepy.

God I hope this gets sold. "Hotel ZaZa" is just a brand I cannot take seriously. I also loathe the render they have on their site with a bunch of small trees on each balcony.... Like, really? Me thinks that is fluff bullshit. NEXT.

More than half the building is slated to be a Gables apartment complex. I don't think any work has been done upstairs on the interiors of the apartment or hotel portion. There is a story here. Maybe the Austin Towers guy can sniff it out.
