Great pics, didn't know that Edmonton was such a nice city! And will probably be even greater with the new development.

This is a visible contrast. The city is busy, the neighborhood is peaceful

I visited Edmonton around 20 years ago and found it quite attractive. It was August but the morning temperatures were close to freezing. The streets in and around downtown were largely empty. Most of the action appeared to be at the West Edmonton Mall, which amazed with its aquarium, water-park features, and roller coaster.

Cities win extreme temperature climates tend to make understandable compromises with their urban form. I've seen this in desert cities like Phoenix where the heat forces human presence into cars and air-conditioned spaces. Edmonton's natural beauty is a plus, but Chamber-of-Commerce pictorials can't really alter the reality that most people live inside out of brutal necessity.
