One57 is out shined by its rising peers. The weakest design out of the 57th Street proxy towers.

That lighted crown makes this instantly iconic.

I've seen One57 lit once, I don't know what happened with that. But I love the lighting on 220.

220 Central Park South’s Façade Almost Finished In Midtown Manhattan

Quote:
220 Central Park South is ever so close to becoming the third slender skyscraper to open up in the last few years along Billionaire’s Row. While Central Park Tower has overshadowed its presence across Midtown, that hasn’t taken away from the attraction for this park-bound limestone real estate. For the next few months, construction workers will be toiling tirelessly to reach the seemingly possible year-end completion deadline.

Robert A.M. Stern Architects is responsible for the design. The building is clad with Alabama Silver Shadow limestone, a material which has become part of the architect’s signature look across Manhattan. Since we last looked at the project in March, the progress, visually, is not significant. That doesn’t mean it’s been slowing down though. All of the limestone cladding has been fully installed along the north, west, and southern facades. The current pace of visible construction suggests that priority has been focused on interior work.

The 950-foot tall structure yields 116 new condominiums, with the three-story penthouse at the top going for a record-breaking $200 million. Part of the project includes a 14-story annex right across from Central Park. Known as “The Villas,” it will have thirteen enormous condominiums, with the most expensive duplex, an 8,000 square foot, six-bedroom unit with 2,000 square feet of outdoor space, on the market for $80 million.

I remember that... it was green in the photos (I think it can change colors). It looked very bright and it was a strange shape. It might have looked better with more traditional flood lighting rather than LEDs.

220 Central Park South is reportedly ready to begin closings

Quote:
While two of the supertalls on Billionaires’ Row are just now launching sales, one skyscraper is reportedly gearing up to welcome residents. The Real Deal reports that the first closings will begin this week at 220 Central Park South, the Robert A.M. Stern-designed tower that’s allegedly home to the city’s most expensive apartment.

Even though the Vornado-developed project has finally reached this point, it’s done so without ever having an apartment listed publicly. That air of mystery may be a marketing gimmick, or it may be Vornado CEO Steven Roth’s way of signaling how exclusive this particular project is—or, perhaps, a bit of both. Gaining access to the elusive building is, allegedly, harder than any co-op interview, with Roth personally vetting potential buyers. (Some of the big names who’ve reportedly made it through that process are Sting and billionaire hedge funder Ken Griffin.)

As TRD notes, there’s a good chance that some of the apartments in the building will break the record for NYC’s priciest sold property, which is currently held by a $100.5 million condo at One57. At 220 CPS, there’s reportedly a $250 million triplex near the top of the tower, along with an 11,000-square-foot quadplex asking above $100 million. The building has a total projected sellout of $3.4 billion.

Looks like they're now adding the small flood lights to the crown lighting. Will be interesting to see how it looks when it's all done

The photos by Ben Pearce in NYGuy's post are the very first photos I have seen of One57 crown lit up. Even 220 Central park which is still technically under construction has a lit crown already.
