Many forumers have been conditioned to shit on Concord because of its... origins

It's a cousin to the cliche "at least it's better than the parking lot that was there"

E condos is significant because it's the only thing north of Davisville that neither faux-historicist nor a nondescript spandrel blob

LOL

Concord's origins mean squat in Toronto. It has everything to do with the large, central subdivision they have been expanding on since the start of the boom. It represents everything that has gone wrong with the boom such as the gradual decline to spandrel messes. (not to say Cityplace does have its own unique warts)

I really can't think of a lot of faux historicism that has gone in Yonge & Eglinton. It certainly doesn't define what has been built there over the boom. Nondescript spandrel blob is vague with a sliding scale based on an individual's standards

Once again you give the impression of someone pretending to live in Toronto. Perhaps you visit from time to time and, on one of those occasions, took a stroll through Davisville. That is where you find a lot of pre 2005 faux historicism and post 2012 spandrel disasters. Davisville isn't Yonge & Eglinton.

Another way to say it is it's the only project (maybe besides Emerald Park) that attempts to rise above the usual nondescript kit of parts.

Surprised you're stooping to WhistlerinMuskoka's antics. If you like, I can even tell you the colour of the beacon at Met Condos at any given time lol right now it's green

I will wait for them to fill up the red glass box with water to make a swimming pool.

Antics? It just the things you say. The colour of The Met's beacon proves nothing. Also, Emerald Park is technically north of Davisville but, it is also five kilometres north of Yonge & Eglinton. It has nothing to do with Yonge & Eglinton. You're not one to blanket Brentwood with Coquitlam Centre.

The pool deck was the red box. The pool was below it in the tower. I'll have to recheck but, I remember it was cut long ago.

People shit on Concord because they build soulless and dreary condo clusters that are full of non-descript spandrel blobs which can't even be distinguished as separate and distinct buildings from a distance.

It's totally unwarranted to single out Cityplace in that department or to call the overall development a bunch of spandrel blobs indistinguishable from one another. That does have an air of group think perception than reality. I've read the ranting recently on UT for the last phase. It's some of the worse ranting for any development on UT. I truly believe this development built anywhere else and by another firm would be brushed aside, ignored for being average, boring and nondescript.

Liberty Village is much much worse than City Place. The main problem with CP is it isn't dense enough considering its location.

You nailed it. This is what happens when one developer is able to purchase such a large piece of property. You run the risk of a very sterile over master planned look. To be fair to Concord Pacific, probably many other large developers would have turned out the same sort of boring nieghbourhood where Phase One blends right into Phase 12. Just think if it was Tridel or Pinnacle who got their hands on that land

Wow! Great update itom 987. Even at number 14 (It says #15, list still needs a fixing), the height is huge.....even at 151 metres for the thirtiest place on this thread is really tall.
