Alot of my favourite shots of the city are taken at night. What beautiful pictures!

I was actually up on Signal Hill tonight, something I don't do as often as I should! It was beautiful! It's just something about those city lights. Clear skies, perfect weather. I LOVE those pictures you took tonight! If you don't mind me asking, what time were you up there? We might have been there about the same time!

I just might have to buy these photos from you

I was there just before 9 p.m. Red Civic. I was up by Cabot Tower with my tripod, my better half was in the car growing gradually more annoyed and listening to music.

I was up around 8, so I guess we missed eachother! Although i'm not up there very often, I always find myself looking around to see if you're there! xD

Great night shots. I think more things in St. John's should be flood lit, and it would be nice if some of the buildings, especially new ones, had special cool lighting features.

Awesome! 351 will be topped out in no time! So they're still working on it even though it's a holiday weekend? That's great!

Yay! we can finally see how tall 351 is going to be! From that angle, Fortis looks alot taller than it does on ground level

I don't know how you find all the amazing angles but you do! I can't wait for the snow to come!

Also just wondering if you happened to see if any more panels had been put on the TD building??

Great Pics, as usual!

Great photos again Signal.

Looks like technically they are working on the top or 12th floor of 351, even including part of the penthouse (~46 meters), and Fortis is progressing to the 7th floor (~25 meters).

Just wondering, did anyone have anything they didn't have a chance to add to the CBC discussion?

The more the buildings come together, the more I LOVE Fortis and tolerate 351 Water Street. 351 is too short for its style, which we all know is not the developers fault. But the ratio of building to parkade is not enough. Fortis is perfectly proportioned for its height.

And thanks for the compliments!

I checked TD Building for you, Townie, and there was no change on the side I could see (Water Street and the southwest side).

And lots we could have added to the CBC discussion. But we got out A LOT. All of this is very basic for us, but it is brand new for most people in St. John's. Hopefully we open up a few hearts/minds.

Just noticed that your wish might come true for fortis place at least. If you look at the render you can notice flood lights pointing up the side of the building. I wonder if 351 will be flood lit. They could easily light up the upper office portion from the roof of the parking garage but if not, at least Fortis will stand out at night!

You may have already noticed this but thought I would point it out anyway!

St. Patrick's Hall, the Cathedral, the Masonic Temple, the Supreme Court... all of those should be lit at night, at minimum. And in beautiful ways that compliment the architecture, not necessarily just flood lights.

I agree, if the buildings are going to be lit they should be done in a way that compliments the architecture not just a quick trip to Canadian tire and some extension cords xD

There is still a lot to be added to the lower section of 351, there will be quite a bit of glass and screening. But proportionally of course, a taller tower would have balanced it out better. However, they will have more than adequately large floorplates.

Re CBC discussion: there wasn't much time to go into detail.

There will be a lighting feature, a strip that is lit up where you see the light colour trim on top of the rounded 10th floor, maybe Led lighting which is popular now. Flood lighting is great for historic buildings, and the newer type (LEDs?) is often used in creative ways on new buildings, sometimes with lighting features that are computerised and change colours and patterns, especially in places like Asia, and even here in Canada.

^ Nice photos.

Interestingly, the first one sort of looks like the Eiffel Tower, the third with the seagulls looks like they could be part of a great mural !
