Its worse when you know the victim. Its even harder listening to the trial.

I have had 1 good friend murdered and know of 2 of my parents friends murdered over the last 10 years. All are from upper middle class backgrounds.

In my case, it was the internet comments that hurt the most. I wouldn't even click on articles related to it, I couldn't deal with the bullshit and assumptions.

No one commenting on a news article about a trial has the slightest clue what they're talking about, I can guarantee that.

Agree with you. Internet comment and article comments should not be read. Just remember when you know the person you know their character. other persons opinions do not count.

15 for ottawa today. Less murders this year but a new record for shootings for 3rd time since 2014. Not sure what gatineau numbers are this year.

Remarkable how a major metropolitan city like Montreal can get so few murders, so little violence. When I was a kid, we got double that I think, and that's still quite low by world standards.

St. John's is going to end the year with 3 homicides, down from 4 last year.

(I have no idea where the 4th came from last year, but the RNC reports and Stats Canada crime reports have it in there)

I have a hunch I could be wrong, but homicides are so uncommon here that the likelihood of one happening in the next day is pretty low.

I had no idea Vancouver is such a small city population wise versus the other big cities in Canada. And I live in Surrey BC.
