VAUGHAN: Major Mac mixed-use settlement approved

Major Mac Mixed-use Settlement Approved
from Novae Res Urbis
November 30, 2011

In a decision issued November 23, board member Jason Chee-Hing approved a settlement agreement for appeals by Cicchino Holdings Limited. The appeals concerned a decision by the City of Vaughan to enact zoning by-law and official amendments for Cicchino Holdings’ property at 3812 Major Mackenzie Drive.

...

The proposed development includes 430 units in two residential towers with 70 townhouse units and 26,613-square feet of commercial-retail space in a low-rise building that will front Major Mackenzie Drive.

--------

Two 12 storey towers, one fronts onto Major Mac, the other onto Weston Rd.

Absolute was such a brilliant design. Yansong Ma really needs to design more buildings for Toronto (GTA).

RICHMOND HILL: Mediation for Yonge towers requested

Mediation for Yonge Towers Requested
from Novae Res Urbis
November 16, 2011

In a decision issued November 9, board member Helen Jackson set aside two weeks beginning January 9 for a full hearing of appeals by Torview Properties Inc., should mediation not resolve outstanding issues among parties.

Torview Properties appealed to the board after the Town of Richmond Hill failed to make a decision with respect to its rezoning and official plan amendment applications. It is proposing a 463-unit condominium with two towers ranging from 15 to 21 storeys, with ground-floor retail on a 2.45-acre site at 9471 Yonge Street.

VAUGHAN: 4800 Highway 7

Vaughan public meetings (from NRU November 23, 2011)
The City of Vaughan will host a public meeting December 6 at 7 p.m. in council chambers to consider a rezoning application by 2190647 Ontario Inc. The application seeks permission to develop two 10-storey residential buildings with 232 units, 155 square metres of ground floor commercial space and 317 parking spaces. A one-storey ground floor structure will connect the two towers.

Two oval footprint towers replacing an ugly mini-mall.

Mississauga Town Square wins Design Awards!

http://www.mississauga.com/news/arti...s-design-award

Quote:
To probably no one’s surprise, Celebration Square is the big winner in this year’s Mississauga Urban Design Awards competition.
The public space in the City Centre picked up the top Award of Excellence.

The honour caps off an immensely successful first summer for Celebration Square, which cost $40 million to build.
Ward 7 Councillor Nando Iannicca, one of the judges, noted that previously the square was usually deserted.

I often check out Urbanation and BuzzBuzzHome's Twitter feeds (along with many others) for project info and updates. They're both great real estate insiders. I love how Twitter and social media has made condo market info so much more accessible.

The first phase of UPTOWN MARKHAM is RIVER PARK, a stunning ensemble of low and high rise condominium residences that are elegant, energy efficient, maintenance-free and truly affordable.
Quote:
In addition, UPTOWN SQUARE will be built in the very heart of the community -- a great European style plaza that will harmoniously blend together residential with retail. The over 170,000 square feet of neighborhood shops, services and supermarkets are scheduled to be open for the shopping pleasure of the community’s first residents the day they move in. All this in the finest and most prestigious location north of Toronto.
