Amazing how much is going on in Montreal these days! Bravo. I wish we had so many quality projects here, but I'll take what we're getting, especially given our brutal economy.

A couple in Calgary's East Village...

Both the drummonds and the solanos phases have been wonderfuls infills.

The solano in particular comes as a breath of fresh air for what is currently an awkward in-between neighbourhood.

Here's a view of Chebucto Landing in Halifax with Queen's Marque on the left side. The glass cladding is in but there's still sandstone and copper-like cladding (Muntz metal) to come.

The light blue tower-like thing is the old dockyard clock that was installed in 1771. The base dates from the 1980's or 90's. The clock would look much nicer on some kind of tasteful reconstruction instead of a postmodern re-imagining of the cupola of the original structure. Chebucto Landing in general needs an overhaul.

Green Lantern and former Discovery Centre developments. The red brick building is getting an addition on top and the tower next to it is going to have a 3 storey Art Deco facade applied to it. The same developer is working on both projects concurrently.

Just horrible. A wasted opportunity for that location.

It's quite unfortunate. I'm glad they renovated the heritage building there, but the addition is awful....just a bloated mess. I posted other updates in their respective threads, just due to the sheer amount of updates.

It should have had a much more industrial look to it. And those condo towers make Cityplace look classy.

Canada’s Diversity Garden

Construction for Canada’s Diversity Garden. That roof looks amazing!
I can’t wait for it to be finished.

It shouldn't be for too long right there.

In fact, suburban malls are slowly dying, which is causing bad problems to related multinational corporations supposedly specialized in logistics and "grande distribution" strategy.
See French multinational Carrefour for instance. I was astonished to see they were 2nd to Walmart worldwide in 1999.
20 years later, they're not even in the top 10 of the sector any longer, laying off people to upgrade their current strategy.
That's what happens when you're too slow and Amazon eats your market shares.

Today, only online trading and downtown retail are really working. But the latter requires lots of shops aligned along the streets to still be effective.
People are not interested in single boutiques lost here and there. They want plenty along a same street, so it demands big density.

Wow, Montreal has quite a forest of cranes there. Hopefully there'll be some good quality materials for Humaniti.

Never knew Vancouver House's plot went that far through the freeway.

You be the judge folks on mtlurb aren't too happy about the vents on the side, but it does seem like a quality cladding...

I think the spandrel looks unfortunate, but other than that, it's pretty sleek going by textural quality.

This is how to do spandrel. I agree the vents are very disrupting.
