I know I've heard that somewhere before. But now that you mention it, it does look a lot like a jukebox.

Another nickname for an SF building.

This post appeared in the wrong thread due to my funky internet, but....

The nickname Jukebox building is mentioned in sfcityscape's summary of SF's highrises section.

I was wondering why I saw that over there, even though I knew what you were talking about, heh.

Ugh, internet went blank when I posted; that has happened before and sometimes, like today, I see the post in another thread (in another forum). Anyway, I forgot to state the current status of the tower.

Current status: Core seems to reach the 8th floor and they are at level 4 for the floor plates. I think they are just about the get past the funky lower levels. There is a small crane on the 'mid-highrise' second building.

Yes. As I said, it's meant to mock it. Reminds people of a big Wurlitzer juke box:

I'm surprised they didnt give it that name in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. They seemed to have a good time mocking SF landmarks like the Transamerica Pyramid (Big Pointy Building) and Lombard Street (Windy Windy Windy Windy Windy Street)

Renaissance in Vegas can be considered dead/on hold

LA Live is going up, but not the hotel yet that section of the site is excavated, but no foundation yet, and I think 700+ is a bit optimistic for hotel where floor levels are usually under 10'

Didn't know that Victory tower was that tall, so I guess tallest U/C west of Rockies (that we have official heights for, at least)

Update: This project looks like another St. Regis. Concrete floors reach only the 4th floor and the core is around 7 floors at the top of the rebar. The crane looks like it will be raised soon, but it will be a while before it emerges out of the skyline. As for the midrise, they have excavated a one story pit. A crane sits on the dirt and excavation will continue on for a long time since that's where the parking lot will be.

Update from webcor (words only).
A condominium/ mixed-use project that will be a 645 foot tower which will include 60 stories plus a 12-story amenity building, Connected by a 3 level podium. Also includes an atrium and 5 levels of below grade parking. Total area is approximately 1,150,000 square feet.

UPDATE

November 2006

TOWER

The Level 3 columns and level 4 post tension deck are now in place and we are preparing for the second flyer deck form system which will be used for the Level 5 deck placement.

The core wall climber finished Level 7 at the start of the month and it is scheduled to complete Level 8 before the end of the month.

MID-RISE

Pile extraction was completed last month to allow room for structural shoring elements. The temporary trestle foundation is now complete and the deck will see traffic by the month’s end. The trestle will be used by the shoring subcontractor and others for their work over the 60ft deep hole which will become the five-level garage.

Shoring work continues with pin piles and other prep work while excavation continues in a supporting role.

"The core wall climber finished Level 7 at the start of the month and it is scheduled to complete Level 8 before the end of the month."

One floor/month? Compared to One Rincon's one floor/three days?

I think they are still setting up their standard floor decks. I would guess that floors 1-4 are not standard. It will pick up after a while. Webcor is doing the concrete work on both buildings so they know how. Remember the first few floors at One Rincon went really slowly.

At least they pushed up the crane a little. As for Rincon Hill, the scaffold collapse probably delayed the project a little since they had to clean up the mess.

Heh, it does seem like its taking forever to rise from the street. Every month it looks pretty much the same. I think its just my anxiousness to see this go up, but I'm happy as long as I see there is progress going on.

I estimate that excavation for the underground garage is going to take at least two months, about a week ago, I passed by the site, and the soil was only around 10' (3m) below street level. Could it be that the developer/future tenant wants the construction to be slow, like St. Regis? It's obvious webcor can go much faster than this.

You can also see this construction site in the 300 Spear pic on the upper right hand corner.

This project is moving waaaaaaaaaay tooooooo slooooow. Core is around 10 stories and framework for the floors reaches a lowly 6 stories. We have another sluggish-St. Regis a few blocks down from the real St. Regis. Due to construction on the short highrise, the 201 Mission St. pedestrian bridge has been closed, no more good elevated vantage point of the site from the streets, only in the office towers now.

I knew I wasent crazy when I said the same thing, it is taking an unusualy long time. No wonder there havent been any updates on webcor's website, because there isn't anything to update. So, I guess now the best vantage point is from the street level, unless people have access to offices in neighboring buildings.
