Got a leasing notice from CTA tonight about their building at 2525 N Kedzie (current City Lit building, right off Logan Square). They’re just trying to lease out the City Lit space to another retailer.

I guess this means they abandoned their plan to ground-lease to a developer for a TOD midrise. Probably the alderman (Waguespack) was too chickenshit and scotched the plan.

Beautiful building !

And though I'm someone who loves tall buildings, as someone who regularly walks by that lot, I much prefer the idea of a mid-rise in that location.

HGTV is pretty much the bane of all evil. Except for perhaps Holmes on Homes, that is. Seriously, everything that's been said so far is pretty much true with respect to the idiots on those shows!

HGTV is basically the propaganda arm of the National Association of Realtors who also happen to be the biggest lobbyist group in DC behind the chamber of Commerce. The point of the network is to brainwash you and make you want to buy property, not to educate you. The NAR is basically who caused the recession because they have been the biggest group pushing the homeownership myth in DC. They have constantly pushed to liberalize lending laws and subsidize homeownership for decades. They of course make money off of sales volume so it doesn't matter to then if the economy is crashing or booming, they are still selling homes.

Homeownership myth? Could you elaborate?

The former L'Oreal building at 2101 S Wabash Ave got permits to convert to residential w/ retail. Didn't list how many units, but an old Curbed article said 43 units is planned: https://chicago.curbed.com/2016/8/15...ns-residential

Speaking of that neck of the woods, any updates on the Mega Mall?

Also from the Uptown Update article:

"4500 N. Broadway: Aldi will receive a major renovation, including adding a front entrance facing Broadway. The overhaul will make the store more pedestrian-friendly and allow more eyes on the street to enhance public safety."

Goodbye blank wall! This really annoyed me when I lived in Sheridan Park.

Yeah, now if you mention someone living under the stairs, people starting thinking about young wizards named Harry instead of Wes Craven.
