RoboCop set to tear up Hamilton in September

http://www.cbc.ca/hamilton/news/stor...n-robocop.html

The streets of Hamilton are in for some tough justice this September.

RoboCop, a re-imagining of the 1987 Paul Verhoeven cult classic, is scheduled to begin shooting on James Street North next month.

The film stars Michael Keaton, Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman and Samuel L. Jackson and is directed by José Padilha.

Film crews are set to shoot on James Street North from Sept. 24 until Oct. 1.

Soon this building on James Street North will be part of the set for the new RoboCop film. (Adam Carter/CBC)
“They're going to transform the street to look like Detroit,” said Julia Davis, from the Hamilton Film and Television office.

Builders constructing the set at 265 James Street North say they're setting up the space to look like a restaurant for a chase scene in the film.

Then when it's finished, they'll tear it all down again.

Michael Keaton was a late addition to the film's star-studded cast. On Wednesday, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures and Columbia Pictures announced he's set to play Raymond Sellars, the CEO of the corporation that builds RoboCop.

“Michael is the final addition to the amazing cast we have assembled for this film and it is so great to have the last puzzle piece in place,” Padilha said. “It is thrilling that everything has come together to bring this innovative new vision of RoboCop to life. We've got a great script, a great cast, some killer ED-209's and I can't wait to get Alex Murphy back on the streets.”

RoboCop is considered a sci-fi classic, and tells the story of Alex Murphy, a Detroit cop who is killed on duty but resurrected as a hulking cyborg.

The original was heralded by critics for its smart satire of American culture. Some called it the best film of 1987.

The RoboCop reboot is slated for an August 2013 release.

I watched a cheesy made-for-TV last night called Pegasus Vs. Chimera (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1700443/). One of the big, poorly-choreographed, sword fight scenes took place in front of one of our waterfalls!

Now viewable online. City Hall and MIP also have supporting roles.

I believe he is known within hip-hop circles in the GTHA, he is also a producer. I don't believe he receives much radio play or anything like that. He just happens to be Drakes childhood friend, he was there when he accepted the grammy (for best rap album) and has appeared in many of his videos.

Manhattan Undying filmed around John and King William earlier in the week and they'll be filming next week at Moulin Rouge Thursday and Friday, plus some exterior shots on John and Gore Park.

It's a Canadian indy vampire movie.

We've had Thelma. Seventeen-some years later, we might get Louise.

Film crews focus on Waterdown this weekend
(Flamborough Review, Mar 15 2013)

There will be intermittent traffic interruptions this weekend along Main Street North and the 5th Concession Road East as a Toronto production company shoots scenes for a feature film.

On Sunday, between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., Port Dundas PD Film Inc. will film interior and exterior scenes at 485 Concession 5, and exterior scenes only at Village Fish & Chips, 9 Main St. North, between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Hamilton Police Service will be on site to oversee traffic stoppages on Main Street N. between Dundas and Church Streets.

Production vehicles will be parked on the north or south side of the 5th Concession, east of Robson Road, and at Joe Sams Leisure Park from Saturday at 1 p.m. to Sunday at 11 p.m.

In addition to parked vehicles during exterior filming at Village Fish & Chips, vehicles will also be parked on the north side of Dundas Street between Main Street North and Flamboro Street on Sunday between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The feature film, entitled The Calling, is a feature film starring Susan Sarandon and Ellen Burstyn.
