this? this is the south bronx?
si papis, yes it is!
it was beautiful out so i went for a quick little walk around at lunch yesterday.
el thread includes the new boricua village and some other new stuff around the south bronx.
ps - the neighborhoods are mostly the old courthouse square, melrose, the hub & mott haven.
some of this nuevo sobro may surprize you -- enjoy!
Great pics. Brooklyn gets all the hype, but the Bronx is really the most transformed borough, IMO.
You should have headed north from the Melrose Commons area. The Boston Road corridor and environs is going strong with new construction everywhere. Big, bulky 10-20 floor apartment buildings, probably none of which ever received a mention at SSP.

haha i know - but that's as far as i can get around there on a lunch break!
but have no fear i have a couple other work sites up there so eventually i will get to more bx just naturally
Thanks mrnyc for the photos. Brings back a lot of childhood memories. The Hub really hasn't change that much, sure there are different stores then I remember, but as far is the actual buildings on Third Avenue, I recognize every one of them.
Look forward to seeing more. Once again thanks for representing the Bronx.
Interesting photos. I've never been to the Bronx... I was going to go to the Bronx Zoo but I never made it. I'll make a point of seeing the BX the next time I'm in the area.
