Also worth noting this is a development forum, not a bike riding forum. This is all childish speculations that have nothing to do with the Keep. That being said, really enjoying how quick this is coming up. Quite the presence from Quinpool already. Hope the Ben's Bakery lot goes up as promised as well

I totally agree, sometimes topics get way off track here.... we should just stick to what the forum is all about....

Forms are bent for the sixth floor setback. Two more floors to go!

I really hope that they won't use textured concrete (fake brick) precast panels on this project.

I drove by today, it looks like there are brackets cast into the concrete which will be the mounting points for precast. Brick precast can be done well, lets hope its not a repeat of South & Hollis.

Did not take long to get these panels up. Not a single one was up on Monday.

I thought this would be brick exterior. This looks like just flat, tinted precast (which is actually probably better than textured brick, but certainly pales in comparison to brick).

But may it looks ok anyway?

I drove by the other night and was impressed with the speed these things went up. I couldn't tell though if they were premade panels of laid brick or precase brick panels. They do have actual mortar lines though, so definitely a good step up from the panels on South and Hollis.

It is good to hear that the panels contain actual brick.

I hope this turns out as well as in the renderings. To me, it is a nice looking development.

Another area that would be well served by some undergrounding of wires! Hopefully that'll be part of the eventual renewal/street-scaping that's been talked about.

Yes they are precast panels with real brick veneer

Yeah my son and I were biking past this on Sunday and I was craning my neck to look at the panels as we went past. My quick judgement was that they looked much better than South & Hollis, but still slightly disappointed that this was done as panels. Even with (seemingly) real brick, there is still the obvious join lines between panels.

Because cycling on Quinpool isn't already dangerous enough.

Yeah to be honest I would rarely bike on Quinpool. Easier to just take other streets to follow the same basic route. In this case we were biking on the bike path that goes up Vernon, which works very well. Joking aside, the only part that doesn't work well is passing by the The Keep right now because the road narrows so much because of the construction fencing. We often take this route though for biking over to Canadian Tire etc.
