I guess what im getting at is , is this minor issue or something that could cause building to collapse? its been there for so long that it def should have settled long ago? any ones thoughts?

Isnt there a brand new high rise in San Francisco that is leaning ?
I did read that new building in San Francisco is not necessarily swaying, but it's already settled to where the floors aren't level.. Which is insane, especially considering how much people pay out there, and in a new construction. And I don't know if it can be fixed. Especially since they have so many earthquakes

Regarding swaying it just depends how much so. Most people don't know because it was kept from the public for years, but the citigroup building in NYC was on the verge of collapsing and catastrophic failure after its completion because of a engineering oversight regarding high wind gusts, and a lack of proper structural engineering. They added a damper to the top and reinforced a bunch of trusses and beams within the building. No one knew for nearly 2 decades that the building had at one time been structurally unsound. (We discussed this in arch. school, quite a fascinating story)

Anywho, if there is swaying, which isn't uncommon in high rises (within reason), or blatant known structural defects, sans the remedied asbestos, I would think it can't be as drastic as the story above. And if so, it can, hopefully, most likely be remedied. I do think Tennis has a good idea, and one I've also hoped as well, that Domain Co's would consider buying it and adding it to SMD.. It really is, IMO, one of, if not the best, skyscrapers in the city.

Also a bunch of work is going on with the WWII Museum and their new additions along magazine.

That's correct - Leonard Reese Spangenberg, Jr. - he also designed the circular Unity Temple on St. Charles Ave. and the New Orleans Federal Savings & Loan building on Chef Menteur Hwy.

Thanks ... any idea if he is still alive ?

I always thought the building looked remarkably similar to the prudential building in Boston too

According to Marriott website, the Towneplace Suites will open in November and Springhill will open in October. So, it looks like focus is on the Springhill Suites portion of the building.

(The co-branded Marriott hotels on Canal next to Jung)

Also, according to this page (and renderings) on the chamber website, it looks like they will have a rooftop area as well.
