I like PCM not being a mad house everyday. It's like the downtime for residents to go and not be surrounded by tourists.

Another "data point" (in the words of Atl3000), I can't find the story but there was an article a while back that Ponce City Market is the second most popular destination for Uber & Lyft after the airport.

That’s one of those don’t believe everything you read. That’s sounds totally like a marketing scheme.

Considering the popularity of PCM and the fact that Uber releases this kind of data every year, I do believe it.

Suntrust Park was the most popular in 2017 but the article I mentioned would have been before the stadium was completed. In most cities the most popular destination is either a baseball stadium or a place very much like PCM (excluding airports and transit centers). https://www.usatoday.com/picture-gal...ate/108307948/

King of Pops, Big Citizen bringing diner concept to Atlanta Dairies

https://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/...source=twitter
Quote:
A popular popsicle maker is teaming up with an Atlanta restaurant group to open a new diner concept at the forthcoming Atlanta Dairies project on Memorial Drive.

King of Pops and Big Citizen, the team behind The Lawrence, Bon Ton and Miracle Atlanta, plan to “serve up new spins on classic American staples, creative drinks, and King of Pops desserts, including ice cream,” according to an announcement.

Atlanta Dairies is a project from Paces Properties that’s expected to open in spring 2019. Other tenants announced so far include Collier’s Department Store, a café from Thrive Farmers and Three Taverns Imaginarium.

I’ve been loving the recent infusion of diverse restaurants to midtown. Yes, several are chains, but many are worth visiting. If you haven’t tried already, Anh’s Kitchen is great intown pho and momo cafe has some great teas (as well as good dishes). As Atlanta diversity continues to grow, I can only imagine our dining scene will flourish.

I agree. I love the variety and I don't care at all that some are chains. We can't have wall to wall chef-driven places.

That's a pretty solid list for food. Those chains have a nice rep.

Apple planning new store at Lenox Square

https://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/...ox-square.html

Quote:
Apple would take a two-story space at the front of the mall, next to Zinburger. It would also take over spaces that house retailers Karen Millen, Anthropologie and Sperry Top-Sider, according to planning documents.

Would there be any chance the two parking lots in front of Lenox get developed? The mall is just so ugly.

It looks like its gonna be nice, but I won't be excited about an Apple store until it's built somewhere south of Buckhead

Same here. Weren't there rumors flying around that the future pavilion in the parking lot for Ponce City Market might be one?

I thought it was more than rumors. I thought Apple confirmed it.

I don't believe anything was ever confirmed but the ABC did report that Ponce City market was favored by Apple for new store location. Which makes me wonder what the timetable is for the PCM expansion.

What is going into the space beside Willy's at Piedmont/12th? They've been working on the tenant build-out for months now without any signage/announcement (to my knowledge).
