Its moving along. Just like 111 W 57th, there is preliminary work before the magic unfolds. And this tower is magic. For some, it might be just a super tall, but it will stand among the super talls as a boss. A tower that is a recap and testament of the vigorous boom that has occurred for DoBro in the last 5 years. Welcoming DoBro into the skyscraper lexicon for NYC, and the world. I just hope that its not the cherry atop of the cake and instead, a catalyst for future towers.

"World Class Demolition"

There's something undeniably comical about that...

^^^^

There is a difference in "tremendous demolition" vs "world class". There's a difference. "World Class demolition" is a divine act of death and resurrection in which the outcome is a superior physical beacon of hope, inspiration, and light. 9 Dekalb is just that for DoBro, catapulting and cementing its entering into the upper echelons of the world so that it may be known in the present and to the future kin what entails magnificent architecture.

Tremendous demolition would be demolishing something, only to replace it with substandard work. Such as demolishing the original Penn Station or Cincinnati's urban renewal. In the informal, extremely good or impressive in turning something wonderful into shit. That is tremendous. A tremendous error, but this is not! This is world class!

From a certain angle (looking north), this building will seem to "book end" the under-construction 99 Hudson Street in Jersey City, as an entry gate to lower Manhattan.

Flatbush in general is an epic drive towards Lower M.

If your ever driving down flatbush, just crank the radio, and blast this song.

You know... for the vibe!

Works best if your rollin' in a Rolls Royce drophead coupé.

That horrible city-owned building/property across Flatbush from CityPoint has to be redeveloped. What a joke.

That site should have basically a CityPoint East or whatever. 70 floor towers with massive retail presence, not a 1950's-era lowrise POS.

Are you taking about the Dept of Health or Long Island University? Bc I've heard the University has its eyes on the DOH site. I can't see that site becoming private development, imagine the coronaries in Ft Greene.

A lot of trash towers went up in Brookly recently. That blue tower is really bad, as is that grey tower. This one will at least distract the eye.. I hope the area is no longer the dumping ground for second rate architecture but I know that it will never be as lucrative a location as Manhattan, so my expectations are not too high.

What a simplistic and broadly vague sentiment. it's probable Manhattan has more shitty, value engineered Gene Kaufman hotels than all the high-rises in downtown Brooklyn combined! Some of the brownstone neighborhoods adjacent to downtown Brooklyn are quite a bit more expensive and exclusive than a whole host of Manhattan neighborhoods, and are actually closer to the core of the city than neighborhoods way uptown. I think you have some outdated notions there. That said, I do believe Brooklyn is being taken much more seriously now by the gold standard developers, and we should see some more great stuff in the near future.

I suppose you're right. A lot more trash towers went up in the midtown south/chelsea/garment areas, a dumping ground for second rate hotel towers. I probably mentioned it because those bad towers stand out more in the smaller Brooklyn cluster than they do in Manhattan's massive bulk.
