What is the LEED Platinum Heritage designation? Are the requirements lower than regular LEED Platinum, but with certain concessions built in because it's a heritage building?

And somehow with their rather small ~50,000 sq ft commitment they've managed to secure naming or signage rights, or both, can't remember.

50,000 SF for one singular tenant is a fairly significant size in Vancouver...

Yeah, a jiffy crane is definitely up. Interesting that they positioned on the roof of the heritage building. Maybe a second one coming to the opposite end into the pit?

Not really, sure average tenant size is 3,500 sq ft, but 50,000 is no where near most buildings thresholds for naming/signage rights, even in Van. It's a desperate deal, but it's a deal never the less.

Credit Suisse Crane Update

Workers are up on the crane getting the cables hooked up. Soon the residents in Jameson and the office workers directly across the street (myself included) can start to worry about the crane ever swinging around and smashing through windows!!

Nah! They're just worry about the crane pointing the wrong angle and ruining the feng shui.

Is the Edward chapman building old? with just a hideous 70s addition to the front? Either way this would've been nice if it could've been incorporated

I think we are lucky that it was not. The combined area of the Edward Chapman building and the 8-storey brick office building on the corner appears to be just enough to support the construction of an office tower with a height equal to or greater than (due to viewcone shadows) the Exchange. Had the Edward Chapman building been incorporated, the opportunity to build another substantial office tower on that block would have been lost. We would have been stuck with that sad 8-storey brick office building forever.

I agree with Prometheus on this.
Maybe within a decade we'll see another 'infill skyscraper' on those two properties.
