Respectfully disagree - looks better now (assuming the white version is the new one).

This little apartment building just had a neat little re-clad/renovation...

It's still not great but I was hoping the before would be the after... that grey stone is horrible. Although the brick portion seems oddly decent.

I missed that Ottawa seniors home recladding the first time around... holy hanna, what a godawful mess. Just think of all the money that went into taking a passably decent looking building and turning it into an absolute monstrosity like that.

They wouldn't put metal cladding on top of brick, there's probably concrete behind the metal. Brick is expensive, and not particularly common in northern Alberta, so they wouldn't cover it up like that.

Saskatoon Police's former HQ, a 70s era bunker, is getting a makeover:

No no brick. This was drywall and very little insulation. They are recladding do to the failure of the envelope over the years. As they are doing this they are updating the perimeter rooms on each floor. This was a project that was hovering around for about 10 years then got the go ahead just before the fires.

They are also building a heliport just to the lower left in the photos. That construction is just starting.

In the past the amount of moisture leaking out of the buildings would create ice bombs in the fascia on extreme cold days. They updated the ER 2 years ago, added new procedure suites and DI suites.

The photo was taken from the rear parking lot. The front is complete covered in scaffolding.
