Was not a fan of it at first, but agree, it's not as noticeable as I was expecting. It's still very meh, but nothing to get upset over.

Everyone expects each new development to be trophy buildings.

Never thought a trophy building - although I wish they'd have incorporated the corner building into the overall plan after closing Perch Pub - but thought it might stick out a bit more since it's such a glaringly modern style compared to the rest of South Broad.

Not true.

I'm completely okay with a good percentage of tall buildings being relatively non-descript glass boxes.

This one actually detracts from the environment. I'd rather look at open, blank sky.

I have to agree with Scottydont. It is unreasonable to expect every building to be cutting edge or flawlessly timeless. Do you remember the garage that occupied this space? I can't say I love the Cambria but it is a vast improvement over what was there and that is all I can really hope for. The renders (taken with a grain of salt) indicate the Perch will be incorporated into the overall design.

I know some people dislike this project anyway, but that beam...

I wonder if that brown beam will be painted.... Its grey in the renderings, and I gotta say it really bring this project down.

Maybe the brown is just a protective film covering like the blue film on the CITC.

It's really giving a nod to the brown brick building to the left. The architects felt sympathetic about it. LOL.

The more I think about it, the more I think this is almost Neo-Brutalist. What a dreadful thought indeed.

the brick going up on this is shockingly not horrific and makes the ugliness not quite as bad. the pictures don’t capture it well, but it provides for a bit more refinement compared to the windows/panels/brown column/basically everything else.

Anyone know how far off their timeline they are? When are they going to start tearing the facade off the lowrise buildings that are supposed to be part of this project?

I think they're retaining the facades of the two buildings nearest Broad & Locust. That's what I see in MSC's brochure.

Hmmm...yes, looks like it. That's a switch from earlier renderings (still shown on page 1). I liked this better as a cohesive project with a unitary facade for those storefronts. Oh well...

Hotel is likely to open in March. Del Frisco's (1st Floor) & Retail in existing building probably not until late spring. Same for the hotel rooftop restaurant.
