Love it. I love how much these new UCity towers are adding to the view lines down JFK, Market and Chestnut and eventually Walnut (with FMC) from Center City. It's really helping to extend the appearance of size of the downtown area.

U.C. is certainly challenging Cambridge Mass. Seems like U.C. has the moving mass , momentum , to keep moving in a higher echelon of sciences and research . But I question their cumputing power with are the research , it takes incredible number crunching.
Harvard has what they call Odyssy with 60k processors . Maybe Penn and Drexal can from a cosortium for a large shared computer system with far more processing power for future needs .

Are they really going to leave the west-facing facade as bare concrete? It looks awful.

The original intent was for those shear wall to be painted. A mock up was done on one of the shear walls, you can only see it if your standing in the courtyard, and it made the many of the concrete defects stand out even worse than the concrete being bare. Not sure what the outcome was and if they are still painting them or not.

This came out meh. Kind of cheap looking and ungapatchka. Still, I'm glad to see a building like this in this location. Now that the ball is rolling with these and others, hopefully the design can be improved. I like the other UC beings under construction right now better.
