The land that Sky City was suppose to be built on has an offer for purchase to build an office complex and will be brought to the city in September for finalization.

All this BS about Sky City being built needs to stop. It isn't happening. There is 0% chance. So move on.

There are few other issues that need to be discussed.

1) This constant PR garbage that Sky City employees are doing.

First. It doesn't take much to realize they are being told to push the positivity. This is to prevent lawsuits. Also they had investors lining up $cash$ for marketing in return of other benefits which I do not know of exactly.

This is very common in real estate.

Many employees use facebook, twitter, message boards like this one to convince others.

We have all heard SPRING will start construction. I was told like hundreds of others that in Spring of '17 its happening. All the machines were on the property remember? they said we are starting. However the arrogance of these people did not hide the truth. Those machines had nothing to do with Sky City. But lets be honest. Most people do not know what is real so they believe anything.

Many of these people do not even live in Winnipeg. Lots of errors have been found on their social media sites proving this along the lines of concert and jets discussion that they speak of pretending they know the city so when they talk about people walking by the front entrance of the MTS centre across the street from sky city that is impossible but they would not know this as the ALT hotel is the building in front.

Or the greatest of them all talking about how a concert they said they went to (which was not at MTS Centre) and had a great view of the Sky City land which proved they were not even in Winnipeg at the time as it was dark outside. And their message was later deleted.

2) This deal is 100% dead. Everyone in the city knows this and Fortress knows this. The land is going to be developed so unless Fortress gets funding in the next 15 days they will have to race out the other company that is ready to build on that land. I do know this company and its a large one and they will be moving on the former Sky City land or another piece of land near behind the ALT Hotel which is going to be made available.

I can confirm that Sky City has been turned down so many times. The only option they have is to get what many in the business call a Hand-Lender agreement with a company that would merge with a lead-in finance company like Bank of America or HSBC for smaller projects.

most times this occurs when a company in europe or asia wants to get involve but have assets in the United States of America or Canada that will be held in check until (not sure how accurate) say 60% of the project has been returned.

Then Sky City could turn around and pay off debt and then allocate the funds to get the project started (once the hole is dug kind of puts the city evaluation order in check) and then bully the city to help finance the rest as its being marketed such a large project.

This is what I know the city does want to have happen and they held meetings on this topic few months ago and was warned by a city official on multiple occasions recently this could be in-play.

And edmonton will be going to through the company which gave the drawings over to Sky City in 2009. Building looks the same lol - real estate is a silly tool for people
to pass on financial packages to people who are in power to sign off on senseless things.

Same idea. Same complex issues. Edmonton is struggling economically and this could cripple them in a large way if they get involved as civic investors.

With TNS coming on the market why would anyone build another office tower in the city right now? It seems like residential is the way to go.

Doesn't Fortress own that land? That would mean that they have been marketing this land at the same time as they are marketing condos to be built on the land. Doesn't make a lot of sense.

Well with NorthStarsProject's track record of being right, referenced credible sources and coherence; it must be true. This is too bad, I was really hoping for the project.

Im not quite sure how a project that is "100% dead" is still making the rounds though City approvals and was just approved for the grant they requested upon project completion.

Council approves $6.5M SkyCity grant. #cbcmb

Doesn't seem like something the City would do if a project was guaranteed not to proceed - I realize the City is really incompetent but really?

Isnt there a troll ban rule that could apply to NorthStarsProject?

What if he/she is up to no good for the sake of detouring potential buyers

In that case NorthStarsProject's posts would only be effective if the buyers engage in due diligence. And if the buyers are doing THAT, they'll have seen how the Fortress owners' previous company ended. ($3M paid to 'investor victims.' Banned from trading in securities for the next 15 years.) (Another business ended with a ban on selling mutual fund investments.)

With SkyCity marketed to investors via syndicated mortgages, any buyers engaging in due diligence regarding syndicated mortgages right now are probably recoiling in horror. Including over Fortress's part in it.

If you wish to continue repeating this type of post I'm respectfully going to have to ask you to start citing some kind of, any type of source. I've given you ample space and freedom to express your thoughts here as all posters do.

I'm of a neutral standing on this topic, whether it proceeds or not is not my primary concern, trolling of a particular thread is.

Great news that council approved the grant! I just hope they don't draw out the timeline any longer citing they need the provincial money that was promised a little while back.

I just wish they would start construction already! Clearly they've had some minor setbacks and their way of doing business is sometimes reason to question their credibility, but if we at least see some activity on the site it would lay to rest all the negative posts out there once and for all.

Crossing my fingers for this project!

There certainly are. Why is this your particularly focused upon ax to grind? That's the real question here. Contribute if you want but don't troll in such an obvious way that we are all now commenting on it.
