Thanks for the info. Do you know who the developer is? I was wondering if there are any renderings.

^ Thanks for the info and renderings. That will certainly enhance the canyon effect of Beaver Ave.

New Highrise proposed for Down Town

Proposed 12 story mixed use at corner of College and Atherton. Called The Residences at College and Atherton which would be across the street from the Metropolitan which is currently being built. Story in the Centre Daily Times.

Another great find pa, but I have a feeling the rendering is very preliminary. It's funny, but I've got some pictures of that area in this photo album:

Downtown State College is sure transforming itself on the west end.

Thanks for the links guys, quite an impressive structure. I do wonder if the review board in State College is less "stringent" than the board in Ithaca. I certainly hope so.

The State College approval committees are very pro-construction, pro-highrise right now. Mostly out of necessity, since the university plans on continued growth with very little investment in new dorms. They are basically scrambling to put up apartments as fast as possible - hence the "collegiate overlay" zoning amendment that provides kickbacks and incentives to build tall and fast. The new projects at High and College, Beaver and Locust, and now at College and Atherton are the result of this major zoning amendment.

Ithaca is in the same situation, but their approval system isn't where State College is at, though they have been getting better recently. A lot of Nimbys up there.
