Boise Weekly says 16 floors, 268,000 square feet.

Also, if you go to the 8th & Main Facebook profile they have an official rendering of the building completed in downtown. It may not have been revised recently but you get a pretty good idea of how they see it fitting into the skyline.

16 stories is roughly 255'. Boise will look almost completely different when it's done.

I'm glad to see that the hole is finally being filled. I've been interested in this site ever since the hole fiasco began. It'll be interesting to see how this development impacts 8th st. as a whole...

being the eternal pessimist, i'm going to presume that the statesman's floor count is actually a typo, and that the final building will only be 6 floors.

I can't shake my pessimism either. I won't be satisfied until the building is topped out! I was quite young when it happened, but I believe the Grove Hotel was originally slated to be Boise's tallest but during construction they decided to cut it short. Does anyone recall this or am I totally remembering it wrong? I know Tom Ahlquist personally but I don't believe I have the kind of relationship with him where it would be appropriate to ask for a final floor count and rendering...

it's official!

from the eastman garage, there's a lot of banging and crashing and work being done deconstructing the pit.

and the mini-crane is up to help with the demolition.

it's enough to make an anthropomorphic banana dance!!!

Lets see if other forumers will chime in and vote for keeping this one and renaming, or closing this thread and beginning a new thread now that contruction has started. If the decision is to begin a new thread, you have the honor of doing so
If this one remains as is, I will rename it to read what you decide for the new title.

I vote that the thread is kept, and the name is changed. I'm kind of attached to this thread

What's the alternative to this thread? With so much going on right now in Boise, I feel this project wouldn't get the attention it deserves if folded into the general Boise thread. My vote is to keep the thread, change the name if needed...

Per the discussion the alternative would be to keep this thread and rename it, or begin a new thread that is all fresh and clean and new because construction has started. It would not be married with the main Boise thread.

I'd be fond of seeing a brand new thread but that's just me.

I kind of like the idea of just keeping this thread and renaming it.

What I'd do, since there's so many conflicting reports on the height/floor count, just name it something like "Boise: Zions Bank (8th & Main) Construction Thread" keep it short and sweet.

Oh, and change the status to...

UNDER CONSTRUCTION BABY!!!!!

They haven't even started on the building yet, and the area already looks entirely different. They have the north side of the almost completely cleared of debris. I imagine that the rebar is next, followed by the concrete pillars.

Hawk,
It looks like most would rather keep this thread open and re-name it. I would think that the official floor count will be available soon, so think of how you would like to re-word the title and I will do it to it.
