Hi

During the week I live on Gladstone St in Wellington Court. Kings Wharf is readily visable across the harbour and the crane from the Trillium is in the distance and I will keep track of both albiet through bino`s.

I will also enjoy watching the next phase of the Gladstone project arise in the near future as I leave for work.

I have enjoyed following your photos and comments as the city continues to grow despite the ongoing recession.

Original aren't I

Thanks

PS: What open minded council was responsible for changing the name of the street north of Young? How long ago was that?

Hi, I've been following the form for several months and I finally got around to joining SSP today. I moved into Halifax three months ago from Lower Sackville. I'm looking forward to being able to contribute stuff to this website.

I'm new, but I've been living in Halifax my whole life.
I've been following the forum for over a year, and I'm glad I finally decided to get active on the forum rather than just watch all of you guys talking .

Welcome halifaxboyns.
It's always nice to have some more planners on the forum.

I don't even remember how I stumbled onto this forum, but I'll have to grab some pics of some of the things you guys discuss that we have out here - like the scramble intersections.

Thanks!
I came because of a job and a promise of high quality of life. I grew up in rural New Brunswick, spent 10 years on west coast, split between Vancouver and San Franscisco doing a PhD and PostDoc, and now I have a research lab at Dal.

Both Vancouver and San Francisco were great places to live, but not really great places to raise kids. Halifax was an easy choice. Grandparents nearby, reasonable housing prices, a research-intensive university (no kidding, there's a lot of world-class research happening in the Dal Faculty of Medicine). As mentioned elsewhere on the forum, the local economy seems to be pretty recession-proof. And I'm really attracted to our dense, walkable downtown core and waterfront, which has a lot of the same elements that you see in Vancouver and San Francisco, just at a smaller scale. Plus, we need to encourage more downtown residential to really make it vibrant.

Anyway, happy to be here, and a lurker no more!

I'm sure most people will figure this out fast but just in case;

I (dmajackson) am good old Bedford_DJ.

Because of the fact I am moving out of Bedford this summer I put in a request to change my name so I won't be tied directly to the town for eternity.

Just call me DJ or Dmajackson
