Surgery photos from yesterday...

...some people might think I'm a sick bastard. I think I have a duty to document unusual things that happen and show them to the world. This was one of those times, for how often will you undergo a minor surgical procedure under local anesthesia and have a professional camera to document the experience? I stayed awake during the entire procedure and one-handed my big camera to snag these shots.

I'm in a medical study at ASU, and yesterday was biopsy day, to remove tissue from my abdomen and thighs to culture and study. I was paid $350 for about six hours:

Starting the blood draw and IV lines:

Preparing to make the first incision, after the area was saturated with Lidocaine to numb it:

Close-up of the incision:

"We have penetrated the outer shields, Captain!"

Irrigating the incision to keep it clear:

Extracting fat tissue from the incision:

Deep mining for the product:

The tissue looks like hamburger coming out:

Handing my innards off to a tech to whisk it away for study:

Suturing the incision:

All done!

Enjoy.

I think most people closed this thread after the first 2 or 3 photos, hence the lack of replies.

I'm going to be a Hospital Corpsman for the U.S. Navy so I need to get used to seeing things that make most squeamish. Even though it is a bit odd of you to post these, thanks anyway Don.

Damn... that's hard core! I would probably pass out if I attempted this.
