The skyline, if built like that, would be nice though. It's amazing how short Verre is now, pity!
In time, some very tall towers will rise on Madison in the 40s due to the air rights from Grand Central. The site of the MTA building could yield a 300m+ residential tower.

Awesome. New towers should be proposed to continue the skyline in all four directions for the accommodation of this new tower.

Wow, from that distance this tower almost looks like a smokestack. NY does have one helluva skyline. And a big part of it isn't even included in that pic.

I did the same thing, this building is outrageously tall and then. Anyways, great renders, imagine with MW and 15 Penn too!

Don't worry, NY will get its fair share of 1200 footers soon enough...

1. One World Trade Center, 1787ft (544,7m), Under Construction
2. 432 Park Avenue, 1420ft (432,8m), Site Preparation (height not final; min: 1380ft / max: 1700ft)
3. Two World Trade Center, 1349ft (411,2m), Under Construction
4. Hudson Yards North Tower, 1292ft (393,8m), Approved
5. Empire State Building, 1250ft (381m), Completed [1,454ft (443,2m) when counting the spire]
6. 15 Penn PLaza, 1216ft (370,6m), Approved
7. One Manhattan West, 1216ft (370,6m), Approved
8. Bank of America Tower, 1200ft (365,8m), Completed
9. 225 West 57th Street, 1200ft+ (365,8m+), Proposed

So we are looking at about 10 possible 1200 footers this decade alone!

Except, it won't look quite as thin as that. We get the idea though. At that height it will stand out a lot on the skyline, and really doesn't need a spire.

A spire would ruin the look of this building. Although I do suppose some shortish antennas wouldn't be too distracting to the aesthetics of the tower.

Yeah I think I made it a little too thin, I was just eyeballing the shape. Its still going to be quite slender though...

Thanks for the street level shots. I have been following the 432park website religiously and was hoping for some shots from other angles. Hopefully those same views will be of foundation work in the not to distant future.

The most valuable plot of land in America looks like crap right not and I hope I'm not foreshadowing the future, in how the building looks. I WANT this building to succeed and look good, but I just saying what my eyes are showing me.

Thumbs up

I'm not a fan of the design, but the sheer height of this thing is cool. I can't wait to see pics of this one starting to rise. This is easily one of my favorite development sites in North America.

I do wish however they could have left the Drake alone and transfer density rights to another underutilized site. The building is long gone, so I guess there is no point dwelling in the past.

The wikipage claims this will be a rental apartment plus hotel. It may not be mentioned on wikipedia but presumably there will also be condos. I wonder how they make it work financially otherwise. It would be proprietary information but the pro-forma and construction financing details would be juicy.

.

Yeah, I tend to agree.

And yes, The Drake was truly beautiful. And with it snuggled up against that black monolith, it was a sight to behold. Sigh.

Out of curiosity, does anyone know how tall the Drake hotel was? Just by lloking at that pic of it and doing a rough floor count, looks like it was between 200-250 ft?
