Meat last night with 5 friends.

Good drink selection

Shared 3 sides, some house made pickles, 2 different types of chicken, friend had pulled pork sandwich.

Everything was quite tasty, fresh, relatively inexpensive.

Service was some of the best I have had in Edmonton.

Bill was $131 +tip.

El Cortez

Went with friends last night, great staff, awesome interiors, nice tequila selection, decent prices.

It was quiet when we went, but I could see that place being super fun when busier.... curious about the food.

I was there last night as well - tacos were extremely small for $4/piece, but definitely hit the spot.

Sign out front last night said 2 tacos for 4.00 - so in we went :-
We had a handful of those tasty morsels, taco chips (tasted good and home made) and some Pacifico and wine.

I was surprised at the lack of a happy hour. Nice room. Odd menu...seems what I refer to as grazing food - and not a menu with a well thought out for a 3 course meal. No flow to the menu that would lead to a nice meal out. I assume they are catering to late night grazers and not a middle aged couple out looking for a quite 3 course meal and a bottle of wine. Wine list was waay expensive and they said they were out of their house Portuguese.

Yep ET was there - skulking around you boys lol.

^ I think they are supposed to be a Mexican pub, not a restaurant. Mixed reviews on both yelp and urbanspoon so far.

Its quite nice and I would not say a "pub". The men working there (all of them) bottom shirt up at the neck...the decor is very nice - and it is a specialty Tequila Bar - meaning they re doing cocktails. They are looking for young, trendy and affluent...not middle aged guys looking for a pint. Stop in and you will see the nice vibe and space they created. What is odd is the menu. They plate everything nice, with nice china and table wear...and then the menu is not there or the choices etc.

Corn once again kindly donated by market vendors: Erdmann's, Riverbend Gardens and Kuhlmann's.

Was in the SE, ended up having dinner at Rasoi, which is in a strip mall on 50 St just south of the Whitemud. Decent eats and good for the local neighborhood, but I can get the same quality or better at Indian joints much closer to my downtown.

State and Main Jasper Avenue

'The Jasper Avenue location is very early in the design process. It is slated to open around Spring 2015.'

The wife and I are going to try Sabor Friday night for the first time. Any suggestions from anyone who's been there?

The seafood is very good there, can't go wrong with that. The Lamb and Spinach salad is to die for and I don't like salad lol. The chocolate mousse with cayenne is very good, a sweet treat with some heat at the end, yum.

Enjoyed a meal at Sabor last night with the wife. Service was the only short coming.

Appetizer for me was the CLASSIC LOBSTER BISQUE. it was just ok. and it was served at the same time as our main course!

The girl ordered the Vegetable soup. The waiter forgot about it! asked him again 10 min later and he forgot! Then at the end of the meal he asked if she still wanted it /:

SEAFOOD PLATTER

Everything was a hit except the Calamari.....I have never actually ate rubber before but this is what Id imagine it to be.

CHOCOLATE CAYENNE MOUSSE

Sweet and hot collide. It was really good.

Very nice restaurant. We enjoyed the live piano music and atmosphere. The Lobster was the best I have ever had. Service on the other hand was a work in progress.

Side Note:

There was an elderly gentleman dining alone at the table beside us. We bought him a glass of Red wine and Started to chit chat. He was a fellow from Vancouver here on business. He was amazed at the level of construction downtown and the difference in vibrancy from 5 years ago to now!!

I thought this was really cool, watching this on the news tonight. Chantal Kreviazuk and Raine Maida perform a surprise show at El Cortez. They even did an acoustic version of "Superman's Dead"
